November 4, 200718 yr I don't think that Mississippi State would win any kind of a series against O$U. However, I wouldn't say that they COULDN'T beat them. After all, who expected Appy State to take down Michigan in the Big House. And where is the team that lost to the 1AA team (or whatever they're considered now)? Sitting tied for first place in the Big 10. If a tiny school like that can beat the Big 10 co-leader then a team like MSU can beat O$U. As for the 2 score thing O$U has a very good defense but it is not the second coming of the Steel Curtain. If Michigan State, Wisconsin and Penn State could put up 17 a HEALTHY UK offense would put up at least 21. Michigan State didn't score a single point on offense. They got 14 off their defense and a field goal. The Penn State game was at Penn State prob. the craziest place in the country to play in with the white out. Wisconsin is a good team, can't expect the Buck's to shut down every team. But they did hold them to under 15 rushing yards and had a 4th quater shut out. I don't think so because they couldn't break 20 against Miss. State.

So since there is no chance that UK could beat O$U how about if the Bucks play their worst game of the year and UK plays their best? UK wins easily........ This college football season has been far to crazy for you to make boasts like that. After all you have to venture into the home of one of the hottest teams in the country in a couple of weeks. If Michigan beats O$U then it would be safe to say that Appy State could beat them right? This is a good O$U team and they deserve their number 1 ranking but they are not a smidge better than 5-10 teams in the country.

Here's the problem with your argument above: Neither MSU or PSU has a qb nor receivers the quality of UK. UW scored 17 with their 3rd string running back and without their top offensive weapon out wide. UK scores on the Bucks. I'm not sure how UK stops OSU on offense.

Woodson is good, but he hasn't see a D like OSU's. OSU's DB's is insane and I don't think Woodson would have a field day against Jenkins and Washington. UK could score on OSU, but not very many points IMO. Here's the problem with your argument above: Neither MSU or PSU has a qb nor receivers the quality of UK. I will agree they don't have the QB like Woodson but their WR's are not bad. Williams and Norwood for PSU are pretty tough. Wisconsin had their best WR in the game in Beckum. Hill was out which did hurt them but with Hill I still don't see Wisconsin winning. But that's just me.

The SEC is the only place to play I guess. LSU's D is miles better than OSU's?? Did Woodson put up all 43 points on LSU??
November 5, 200718 yr Of course, the Big 10 is down right?? If you're talking about this year, no, not if you base it on recent history, which is not good for the Big 10. I guess the NCAA should take out the Big 10, Pac 10, Big 12, ACC, and The Big East. The SEC is the only place to play I guess. No. I'm not one of those "Almighty SEC" guys. But the Big 10 really needs to clean up its act. ACC too. LSU's D is miles better than OSU's?? Did Woodson put up all 43 points on LSU?? Ummm ... yeah. Woodson and his team did put up all 43 points on LSU. Unless they had some help from an outside team none of us can recall ....

The 2nd string tailback, if I heard correctly, is not allowed to go to road games. OSU may have handled them with all of those players but we simply didn't get the chance to see the Bucks against a healthy talented team so for non-Bucks fans, the question is still there. The next two should give us doubters a decent chance to make an accurate judgment.
November 5, 200718 yr Here is my problem with OSU, they are yet to play a dominant pass defense in the ground and pound Big 10. Nobody is going to run to much on them, they are geared to stop the run. But that zone defense got them pounded last year when they faced a passing team, and I think that they will get exposed with a good passing again this year. The LB's are hoss cats but its hard for them to cover a 4.3 WR dashing across middle, and Tressle is hard headed and he will stay in the zone the whole game.

Now, you are trying to say that UK has a chance or you just are spewing propoganda (if you need a definition of that PM me) you said in ALL CAPS that there is NO WAY that O$U would lose to Mississippi State. So if there is no possible scenario in which O$U could possibly lose to them then I guess UK would not be allowed on the same field with them. If UK beat the SEC leader then I guess that LSU would be lucky to even field a team against the mighty Buckeyes. Just like last year when the poor, pitiful SEC trotted out a team against the Bucks in the Title game and we all know how bad the Buckeyes beat us down then......hey wait a minute.......
November 5, 200718 yr Youngstown State, Akron, Washington, and Kent State. That's another reason why OSU doesn't get a lot of respect. A cupcake OOC schedule couple by a conference that doesn't have a championship game.
November 5, 200718 yr So Oregon has to beat an SEC team to prove they are one of the best teams in the country?? Do teams like Oklahoma,USC, Michigan, Missouri, Hawaii, Arizona State, and West Virginia have to prove that to?? Well wait, West Virginia already did that by beating Miss. State 38-13?? And oh yeah Cal did that to by beating Tennessee 45-31. What about Florida State beating Alabama? Or USF beating Auburn?? The best teams in the country do not have to beat SEC teams to prove they are the best in the land. As for the UK statement, I don't think THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY would have lost to Miss. State 31-14, do you?? Kentucky would be lucky to get 2 scores in the entire game. We will never know, but I doubt you will see UK only get 2 scores in ANY game the rest of the season. And BTW, to add fuel to the fire, ... it took an SEC team to beat UK! For the record, I think Ohio State is a VERY good team who just happens to have a weak schedule this year. It isn't their fault the conference is having an off year.
November 5, 200718 yr I believe that both Ohio State and Michigan would be very competitive in the SEC, but I also believe that both would have at least 2 losses if they were in this league. Regarding the SEC its not so much about playing a stong individual team on a given weekend, its about the cumulative effect of playing a string of tough SEC teams week in and week out. This can wear down any quality team. We have already seen how potentially top 25 SEC teams are being affected by fatigue (ie... South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, etc...) Bottom line - the top tier Big 10 teams can definitely hold their own against the top SEC teams, but the middle and lower rung teams of the Big 10 would struggle against the level teams in the SEC (IMO).
