jeb stuart Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 This time of year for me is always exciting and sad. It being playoff time your usually hoping that your team is jelling at the right time. Or you know that there is only two games left for not just your team, but also the seniors last time putting the colors, that he has proudly worn for four years.Or since he was going to the games and playing the halftime game in the end zone,or the patch of grass by the bleachers. I myself am from Meade co.. I bleed green. Meade is my favorite team. I love seeing kids that I've known since they were babies, playing ball on Friday nights . But there are kids on every team in the state that were babies at the same time. Someones son, nephew, brother, or freind. They all have the same people who love them and their school more than any other. Some, about 3 pecent, will get to play football at another level next year . But most will play their last game in two weeks. What I want to say is "THANK YOU SENIORS" for representing your schools, and be proud of what you have accomplished. In 20 years you will never have to wonder "what if I had played fooball?" and I will tell you something else, You will be proud that you did. As we as Family and freinds and fans are of you now. From the GREENWAVE NATION to Ours and Yours Seniors.....THANK YOU FOR THE DEDICATION, AND FOR WEARING OUR SCHOOL COLORS... :thumb:
jvdfc Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Great post Jeb. It sure brings out memories for all. Kudos to all Seniors.:ylsuper:
leatherneck Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Jeb, that was an absolutely fantastic, wonderful post. One of the best I've ever read. With some teams facing their last game this week and with most of the seniors on those teams playing their last game of football, I hope they take several moments right before kickoff to pull their thoughts together and then go out their and leave it all on the field. No regrets.
Braveheart Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Excellent post! With that being said, my gosh its hard to believe that another football season has come and gone! Where does the time go?
Mom55 Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Wow, a person after my own heart. Yes Thanks to the Seniors for the four years of football and excitement. It will be something that they will always remember.:thumb::thumb::thumb:

itskickofftime Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 I think of all the Seniors that have passed thru the last game, graduated and gone on to different walks of life learning that they start at the bottom again. Wish I could turn back the clock for many of them, but as the saying goes "thats the way the cookie crumbles". I see these seniors at h.s football games, its nice to talk with them, especially the ones that have gone on to play college ball and pro ball. Their memories will be in my heart forever. Watching them grow has been a thrill. To the players that graduated and now have the knowledge from paths they have chosen, they are just as important, as they to are giving back to the youth of today. Stay focused and be involved, someone did that for you. :dancingpa
oldrambler Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Ok Raceland Ram you are right they do deserve 5 thumbs up or more. LOL Much More Mom :thumb::thumb:
buttels Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 I have actually created a page on my radio show website for the Class of 2007-08. Listing per school we cover who the seniors are and where they will be going to college if they know. The link to the page is: http://www.nokysportsreport.com/seniors.htm. It is hard on kids knowing that their season has come to an end. Most kids these days play multiple sports, but for those that just play football, run cross country (Regional Meets this weekend), play volleyball or golf, we salute you and what you have given us on the field, floor or course.
SLINK Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Always a tough night emotionally for all involved. I know some of Dunbar's seniors are some of the finest young men I have ever known.
Beechnut Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Thanks so much, Jeb, for a GREAT post. Brought a tear to my eye. It's not just the seniors who are ending an era, as alot of families around here are graduating their last player after a long line of players. During the 12 years that mine have played, you don't think it will ever end. Now it is, and I just don't know what life will be like now.....Friday nights will just not be the same. Oh, we'll still go and support the team, but we might actually get to choose to take a night off if it's cold or raining........
luvbasketball Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Great Post! I would like to thank the seniors on the Williamsburg Yellowjacket team....though few in number you will truly be missed next year. Hope to see you back supporting this young team that you have helped lead to a successful season.
jeb stuart Posted October 31, 2007 Author Posted October 31, 2007 In 2005 in the 2nd round of the playoffs we played St.X . We were at Manual Stadium . This was my oldest sons senior year. A week before, he was listed as all dist. and all region. He was ,in his head ,on the top of the world. We lost to a good X team that ended up state champs. It took my son and 3 or 4 other seniors a half hour to pull their faces out of the turf . This broke my heart and to this day it chokes me up to think about that November night. All I could tell him is that he and his teammates left it on the field. And keep his head up. He was not as sad of losing as he was knowing it was all over . After picking him up from the locker room I told him how proud that I and the rest of the family was of him. And how much we love him. Now I have one that is playing freshman ball . Just 3 more years until he will hang up his pads. ...... You know,,, I don't think it will be any easier for either of us in 2011.
