halfback20 Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 The Journal News is reporting that Joe Torre will be hired as manager of the Dodgers. The announcement could come as soon as today. Don Mattingly is in line to join his staff. Torre also is interested in Kevin Long. I suspect Long will stay with the Yankees but he is in demand. LINK
halfback20 Posted October 30, 2007 Author Posted October 30, 2007 Joe Torre and Don Mattingly parted ways with the Yankees this month, but they may stay together in a major league dugout next season. Two major league officials said yesterday that the Los Angeles Dodgers planned to fire Grady Little as their manager and replace him with Torre, who would make Mattingly a coach on his staff. The officials were granted anonymity because they were speaking about moves that were not final. LINK
The Scribe Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 I guess the Mattingly curse will follow him to LA.
The Scribe Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 If you had told me five years ago that Joe Torre would be managing Nomar Garciaparra in LA in 2008, I would have told you to check yourself into Eastern State Hospital.

Sportz Addict Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Good for him bad for NL and the Reds...
Wireman Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Torre was on David Letterman last night. That was pretty interesting.
stickymitts Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Sweet! I'll have another NL team to root for when the Reds are out of the race...in May.

ladiesbballcoach Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Nice pickup for the Dodgers if it comes to fruition.
HT721 Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 GO DODGERS!!! I've cheered for them my whole life and not since 1988 have they appeared to be more committed to winning than the last couple of years, they are building up to be a contender finally!
halfback20 Posted October 30, 2007 Author Posted October 30, 2007 LOS ANGELES -- Now that the New York Yankees have offered Joe Girardi their managerial job, it's clear they've put the Joe Torre era behind them. What's next for Torre? Even David Letterman wants to know, wondering Monday night whether Torre might be headed to Los Angeles. "Maybe Dodgers, maybe Angels?" Letterman asked. "Well, the Dodgers have a contract, I mean, a manager," Torre replied during his appearance on the "Late Show with David Letterman." "The Angels have a very good manager." LINK
ladiesbballcoach Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 One thing I miss about the 70's and the old division was HATING the Dodgers. Now they are just an irrelevant team to us Reds fans. They used to be the HATED Dodgers.
