October 29, 200718 yr For Johan Santana? I'd drive them in Minnesota... :thumb:There isn't a player in the Reds organization I wouldn't trade for Santana...in fact, it's quite possible there isn't a combination of two player I wouldn't give up for him. Could they end up being studs? Sure. They also could be busts... Santana is a proven. And what he's proven is that he's one of the top 5 pitchers in baseball...a real ace who you can count on to give you a very good chance to win in almost every game he starts. Players like him are rare and well worth a prospect or two, IMO. The Sox made a great deal no matter how good Ramirez ends up, so I doubt you'll ever hear them lament that trade.
October 29, 200718 yr He'll go to the Yankees or RedSox's mark it down. Okay, while I'm marking it down, so you're saying the Twins will keep him through his contract and then just let him walk? You think they are that stupid? You can't trade with BoSox or NYY at this point because they don't have enough young talent to deal. So for him to go there he'd have to stay in Minnesota and then just walk. If they let that happen they should be moved to Las Vegas.

Usually attendance spikes when a new park opens, do you think they might be willing to sign those three and using the increased revenue?
October 29, 200718 yr do you think they might be willing to sign those three and using the increased revenue? No. You're talking about $45 - 50 million in three players.
October 29, 200718 yr No. You're talking about $45 - 50 million in three players. The Twins are going to demand Bailey in a trade w/ the Reds I would think. Do you think the Reds would do it? Would it be worth it if he's only here 1 year?

October 29, 200718 yr I think they'd be more likely to demand Bruce... Bruce would never happen -- they won't deal him. I also don't think they'd trade for Johan without an extension in place.

You don't trade Bailey/Bruce/Hamilton, etc for Santana 1 year. Has to be a commitment for several years to trade off your top young talent.
October 29, 200718 yr Author Bruce would never happen -- they won't deal him. I also don't think they'd trade for Johan without an extension in place. Bruce is along the lines of Hanley Ramirez. I think if an extension is in place, you trade Bruce...

October 29, 200718 yr Bruce is along the lines of Hanley Ramirez. I think if an extension is in place, you trade Bruce... I agree a million percent.
October 29, 200718 yr Bruce is along the lines of Hanley Ramirez. I think if an extension is in place, you trade Bruce... How many years would you need in the extension to trade the guy who could be your starting CF and #3 hitter for the next 10-15 years?
October 29, 200718 yr Author How many years would you need in the extension to trade the guy who could be your starting CF and #3 hitter for the next 10-15 years? At least 5 years...
October 29, 200718 yr At least 5 years... I think I could live with that. 6 years, total, of a guy who can run off 20 wins in a season and average 15-18 each year, easily.
