I didn't see the shot but if it was from 35 feet then he didn't, doesn't, and won't make it consistently. Remember the half court line is 42 feet.

 

I didn't see this particular shot, either, but there isn't anyone in the NBA who regularly makes 35 footers in game situations.

It was a beautiful shot. Clutch situation. Russell won at Elliot in a tight game and won at home fairly easily. Gill did not play when they played Elliot at home.

Coach Mays has won the district 3 and won the region 1 time . they have beenthe runner - up in the district several times and have went to the region. Still not bad for a very Small school.

I understand that they are a small school and that is a disadvantage, I also understand that they have no other male sports at the school to compete with and that is a huge advantage. Those boys are strictly b-ball 365 days a year. That in my mind offsets the small school problem.

Was the college team Dodd coached Berea. If this is the case most of the coaches in our area wouldn't take a pay-cut to coach in college.Ron Reed another former coach in the area was asst at Ole Miss , what I am trying to say is just because you coached at a college it doesn't make you a better coach. This year we will see how good of a coach he is.

What about baseball, golf, swimming, cross country? Alot of Elliott County's basketball players are two-sport athletes.

I watched them play baseball a couple of times and don't remember anyone on their hoops team playing and if you are not at a high level in those other sports you mentioned ,you probably don't practice very much. A lot of shaded glasses,as they say, on this thread. If you want an honest answer to this question, ask other coaches in private what they think.

That is true. However, Coach Dodd didn't just coach in college, he is an NAIA Hall of Fame coach.

Russell is in a rebuilding mode this year as the last four years were pointed toward last year. (Vanhoose's injury ended that goal)
