He's too good a player. Johnson is one of those game-breaking players, the kind defenses must account for when they take the field. T.J. Houshmandzadeh is a good player, but he gets a lot of catches because defenses slant their coverage to Johnson. Does Johnson have a big mouth? Yes. Does he like attention? Yes. But he's also a heck of a player. He isn't a bad guy. He doesn't get into trouble off the field like some players. I would deal with his desire for the ball and the craving of attention because of his ability. You never trade a talent like that. Just look at what Randy Moss is doing in New England. Yes, and not because he's a distraction but because they must go in another direction -- and I'm talking defense. Look, I love watching the guy catch touchdowns from Carson Palmer, too, but the formula isn't working. Every year we marvel at the weapons the Bengals have, and every year they disappoint us. And it's not because Johnson can't catch or score touchdowns, because he can; it's because they can't tackle or stop the next third-down play. So get draft picks. Get free-agent defensive players. I don't care what you do, but get something substantial to start building a defense that is holding you back. If that means trading Johnson, then do it, because Ocho Cinco means Nada without a defense.

SuperB, why should a professional athlete be expected to do the job he is payed for in a selfless, professional manner? Thats just crazy. Everything mentioned in that article is true. The thing that I do not understand is people failing to realize that Chad's selfish antics are as big of a detriment to the Bengals program as anything else mentioned in that article. BTW, Jim Rome's knowledge of what it takes to have a winning football program wouldn't fill a thimble. Who is going to be quoted next, Jerry Springer? And you would be dead wrong. Once again, his antics are just another factor, it ALL must be solved. To think otherwise is either misguided, or simply ignorant to the workings of what keeps a winning program on track.

Have you noticed ever since Chad has been here he only does his antics when the team is winning. I mean back when we were 2 and 14 we didn't see Chad do any celebrating. It was once we started to win he started to do some antics with celebrations and things. But if you have also noticed every time we go on a losing streak, he stops his antics. I think that shows he really does care about winning more than anything else...You really can not convince me that would Chad does has much effect at all to how the team performs on the field.. I mean I highly doubt while on the field, one of the defensive players are thinking dang that chad johnson and his antics, I think I will screw up an assignment now or miss a tackle..Or people thinking well since Chad Johnson is aloud to celebrate, I can go out smoke pot, and drink and drive and be just fine...Now if Chad Johnsons antics ever get in the way of producing on that football field, then it would be a problem to this football team. However his antics has not stopped him from producing on that football field one bit...Chad Johnson is not even close to being any reason why this football team is losing... October 25, 200718 yr On Jim Romes show today he talked about Chad Johnson, and the talk of fans wanting him traded..And well he was pretty much right on the money with every single thing he said..He said does Chad Johnson like getting attention on himself, yeah definitely. But does he care more about having attention on himself and celebrating, than he does winning, Absolutely not! He talked about alot of the things that I have tried to get across to some of you on here. He says is Chad the reason why the defense cant stop anybody? Is Chad the guy who has drafted guys that can't get on the field cause of suspensions? Is Chad the guy who brought in players who get arrested? Is Chad the guy who cant establish the running game? He said the thought of trading Chad is pretty much crazy, and would not help the team, and that Chad is not the reason for why the Bengals are underachieving...Jim Rome was pretty much right on the money today when talking about Chad. I know if any of you all can find away to some how watch it, then you all should because it was really good... Exactly what BGP has been saying all year with the Bengals threads. Problems on defense. Problems with Marvin. Problems with the OL. BGP posters have held these same views the whole season. Except, BGP posters for the most part have said that Chad is ONE of the problems but admittingly down the list.
