October 19, 200718 yr Just came up from the basement here in Union. It was pretty ugly out, real windy. Looks like we are in the clear from now though!!!

October 19, 200718 yr These poor guys on the news. All the hype and now it is just a sever thunderstorm warning. The one guy is talking about how spectacular the lighting is. Lighting is not 100 mph winds. Not to worried. Just another thunderstorm. Anything can happen during a servere thunderstorm, the winds did die down a bit and not at 100 mph gusts anymore. But I remember a "simple" thunderstorm destroyed a subdivision near the airport and also heavy damage in downtown Covington, all due to wind shears. I remember about 2 years ago seeing a tree in my front yard at about a 45 degree angle and damage everywhere, I THINK that was the same storm that destroyed the Richwood Flee Market, and it had over 80 mph winds, hit very quick, but no tornadic activity. Sirens went off then, and I know of people who went in their basement when hearing them, then went upstairs only find a lot of damage and windows gone. Still more storms coming, just south of Carrolton they are having near 100 mph winds.
October 19, 200718 yr Author Pretty sure the storms are over here in Louisville....Several reports of damage throughout the area, and a confirmed tornado touchdown in Crescent Hills.
October 19, 200718 yr Most of the rain has dodged Owsley County recently. We are as dry as the Sahara. We had a small amount of rain this morning, but barely enough to wet the ground. It's getting frustrating. No storms here, unless they occur later tonight.
October 19, 200718 yr Ok I have seen alot worse storms with alot less hype.:irked: It's the perfect opportunity for Channel 9 to show off their HD broadcast. On a serious note though, I will NEVER watch/listen to Channel 5 news. I remember flipping b/n news channels earlier this year when the tornado hit the horse park in Indiana. Channel 9 and 12 were reporting strong chances of a tornado being in that area, along with confirmations that one was down. Channel 5 kept saying nothing was going on, and hours after 9 and 12 said a tornado was down, they still said nothing of it.

October 19, 200718 yr A shlew of lightning just passed my house, since it was over Cincinnati...I decided to watch it out on my back deck for awhile.
