October 17, 200719 yr I never thought I would utter these words but after watching them the past 2 seasons, I think both Brohm and Woodson are both better collegiate QB's and will be better NFL QB's than Couch was. I know this may seem like heresy to some, but let's be honest about it. 1. They play in more NFL compatible systems 2. They throw more deep balls 3. They manage the game so well Couch was a GREAT HS and college QB, but I think Mumme's style actually hurt him in the NFL. I think he was an average QB on a bad team. Had he played in the UK or UL system right now, he would be much better prepared for the NFL IMHO. I think both the QB's we are seeing play today for UL and UK are better and will be more prepared for the NFL game. What say you BGP?!?

I didn't think this topic had been discussed in a while. The hot topic has been the Heisman, which Couch was in the final 4 or 5 for his last year at UK.
October 17, 200719 yr I think they're all 3 good college QB's. Couch appeared to be the most promising, but we all see how that went. I think Woodson might end up being the most productive NFL QB.

October 17, 200719 yr Do you think Mumme's system, which put up big numbers, actually hurt him in the NFL? I think it hurt him in the aspect that he really did not learn to read defenses that well in that system........and I think the numbers may have distorted his value some. Couch was actually hurt by getting picked #1 because he went to a new franchise that was not managed very well. This led to him being forced to play before he was ready behind a line that could not protect him, bad habits and confidence problems ensued.

I am not saying he would have made it but lets be honest let him sit 2 years behind a good QB and learn the system. Then maybe he would have been more productive. Maybe being on a different team would have made a little difference as well. THe Cleveland Browns struggled for a few years ............

October 17, 200719 yr Brohm at all levels..... next issue? It may help if he would win some more football games like Woodson has against MUCH BETTER competition.
