OYPREPS I would start with the big lineup with Hundley,Lee & Phares along with Ferguson @ 2 & Ethan Faulkner at 1. If I had to go smaller due to Lee or Phares being in foul trouble then I would go with the other twin from Elliott @2 moving Ferguson to 3 & Hundley to 4 then Protwood would be the next option @ 2 or 3. Be a great problem to have one that I'm sure any coach would enjoy. All these kids are nice players and great kids and all I was pointing out in the beginning is when Hoops Yoda stated these 3 kids would not be in the top tier in region 11 mainly because they play in a less competitive region & I totally disagree. It doesn't seem as if Billy G thinks along those lines or he would not have offerred a 16th region kid a scholly!

Very good answer and post. The kid that got the offer from BG does stand at 6-8. None of the other players in question have that height and do stand at 6-1 or lower.

Maybe everyone but Pearl was mashing down to hard on his hair when they measured him. I'm sure thats what it was ! Plz do not let anyone do that to jonathon or he may not get any offers.

No one is to short to play a higher level of basketball, look at the NBA. It tales a wide range of players to make a really good team. Don't you think?

Being 6-8 does in fact help. If you have a talented 6-1 kid that can play well and you take that kid and make him 6-7, most would guess that with the added height it enhances your chance to play at the next level. Is that wrong?

 

All things being equal, would you rather have a 6-5 PG that can post up shorter players and defend multiple positions or do you want a 5-11 kid that is limited?

 

And Loften is the exception. Those types of stories come by the scarce few.

I have seen some Tall kids that couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time. Basketball is a lot like ballet it takes a lot of movement to be good at either.

The question on Lofton wasn't as much his size as it was his perceived lack of athleticism and ability to defend other guards.

 

And it wasn't Pearl that found Lofton ... it was Buzz Peterson.

There are other D1 schools besides the SEC, ACC , Big 10 and Big East.

 

There are tons of 5-11 to 6-2 players that play D1 Mid Major.:thumb:

Then why worry? The entire starting line-up at Elliott will make its way to a mid-major D1 program. Its sealed.

 

Matt Thomas is 6-1 right? Where does everyone project him to go? He is quick, strong, can get to the rim as good or better than anyone in the 16th, nice touch from the outside, solid passer too and a tenacious defender. Where will he play?
