Doesn't matter if Castellini isn't going to spend money.

How much money do you want him to spend? I assume you want the money spent on pitching. Let's say that Castelinni really opens up his pocket book and adds 30 million to the payroll. Who are you going to go out and sign as a free agent with the extra money?

Good, I'll at least have 2 votes. :D

You seem more like the GM type rather than manager. I'll take the manager position, and Strike3 can be my hitting coach.

The managers position is a good place to start, it would be nice to have a manager worth more than $1 mil. Or in Narron's case $600K, not sure how much more or less Mackanin's worth. This hire will tell us if they're serious about winning or not. If they hire Mackanin for pennies, like the last two skippers, there's no way any free agents worth it will sign here in the future. I don't see an ace coming to play for Miley, Narron or Mackanin. But that's just me...

Works for me. I've told Bob every time I see him, which is once or twice a month, that I could be his version of Theo Epstein. :bunny:

That is a great point. Free Agents want to play for guys with credibility (and jewelry), that is a point not mentioned frequently enough.

I'm ready....

Torre.

If available Torre certainly would be a good one if he would want it.

My idea..............STRIKE3 !!!! :ylsuper::ylsuper: or Cvillecat. Two excellent baseball men. :D:thumb:

Is interim Coach Pete Mackanin not an option for anyone. He would certainly be less money, which could be invested in players.

IMO, if Torre is fired he retires...
I agree.
Because I think he did a very good job the last half of the season. The players loved him and seemed to respond that way with their play.

The only problem with him is that most teams play differently under an interim manager. So it's hard to gauge where they would stand under normal circumstances. Also, not all the players love him. He made the comment last week that there are some guys in the clubhouse that would love to have him back, and there are some guys that would love to see him go.

With Castellini's big talk about bringing a winner back to Cincinnati, hiring the interim manager isn't going to win over a lot of fans in this city. I know they need pitching most of all, but bringing in a big name manager would make a statement to most fans.
