From reading this thread, it sounds as though the coach might be a big influence on where this young man goes to school. So, the big question is this, what is in it for the coach?

Me either and I don't need an eye doctor...simply inquiring on someone's status doesn't even remotely sound desperate to me, more like, covering all your basis in event the guys very good...My bet is BCG hasn't even seen the kid play..

Have you not been following his recruiting style? Billy seems to go after lots of guys, and then decides later if it is a good fit. If a coach shows him the door, he tries to find another way. Everything is on the table with him. He works on plan A-Z. The opposite of Tubby.

And it has been very effective in getting serious interest on the perimeter. In the paint it has been the opposite.

You are trying to make something out of nothing. I think we still have a real shot at Singleton, Jennings, Hamga, and Sampson III. If Morgan isn't coming this weekend I doubt we will get him. Jennings is just confusing, but we are on his list. I think we have a great shot at Sampson now since he decided to come to Madness. But Gillispie does need backup plans and that is what this is all about.

UK backed off of Jennings a while ago. Singleton may be more of a college 4 man although he might want to play the 3, so he might go somewhere he can play right away at the 3 (FSU). Hamga still has to get a NCAA ruling and get away from UNLV. Sampson is not a guy who will come in right away and get it done.

Sure he is not a Patterson 4, but then again basketball has changed the last 15 year where you have 3s that often play the 4 spot. If there was every a player that fits that mode, it is him. He has been recruited for the 4 spot with some teams, most he dropped off his list.

His outside shot was his best quality every time I saw him. His dribbling and shot blocking were a little above average, but slid off when I saw him against major competition like Pump and Run. He looked solid on the offensive glass when coming from the weak side, but wasn't aggressive on the defensive end, and tended to slid out on the perimeter to guard other wings as opposed to mixing it up. Could he be molded in to a 4? In time I think so. Is he anywhere close to a D1 4 as it stands? I didn't see it if he is...

Good report. We were just looking at it from different points of view, a postup Patterson type 4 verses a 3-4 type deal that you see with many teams today where the 4man plays like a second 3 position with some 4 duties. That kind of guy usually is long. His length is what I like.

I seem to remember a guy like Tayshaun doing well at the "4" at Kentucky.

How many guys do you see play the 4 in college and end up at the 3 in the pros?
