Players have to know what the consequnces are for their actions. A program's rules have to be set in stone; no exceptions. I think they need to run, practice hard. Not sit out get out of shape. Thats so stupid !!

If coach don't want to play them in game fine, but 2 weeks with out practice, not going to do thing but hurt.

 

 

I'm with you Old Warrior, it will be tough, if not doubtful, to fill #53 Yates' shoes. Friday's game will be a challenge, even more than it's already been, for our line. But you can't count #57 Ratcliff out, he's pretty awesome, too, he'll pick up quite a bit of the slack.

Back in the day when I played & I`m sure a lot of you other members can remember that if they had a coach like I had they would have been in the stands all right , but they would have been running them up & down & all around for two weeks & may be the rest of the year. The other players would see what happens if you decided to do things your way instead of the team way. IF a player decided to quit he may as well just keep on walking because our coach would tell them the last thing we need on this team is a quitter there wouldn`t be any coming back or asking to come back. The team is what football is all about not individual personalities, it is a game meant to teach you discipline,respect for others , self respect, self control,teamwork,& sportsman. Where I played woe be unto to the player that didn`t represent himself in the highest manner because his actions were viewed as a direct reflection of the program . Everyone understood that on & off the field how they would be expected carry themselves because of who you were representing. Imo once a staff loses control of discipline the team loses respect for them.

Hannah, #25 has either a torn meniscus or an ACL Ligament. #53 Yates, lost for rest of season, with 2 cracked vertrabaes. Heard some junior's and sophmore's, hope to see #76, # 58, #79, on the line. #6 will get moved to wide receiver.:thumb:

I hate seeing anyone count a team out like this but what happens to the boys that are playing and truely loves football, how do you face a 16 year old and say this isn't right but there is nothing we can do about it. That's where I feel the worse are the boys and parents that truely represent GCHS in the most respectable way a young man and family can.

Greenup is a tough tough place to win and coach in my opinion. However, with the new district they should compete each and every year.

You make a good point. It starts with the AD running the athletic programs for a school. Discipline and integrity starts at the top and goes down. Any program within a school's athletic dept. should be a reflection of the decison maker, i.e., the AD. It's his/her job to make sure that things are being done right within a dept. If not, he/she should make them right. I have personal friends with kids on this team and I know it has been miserable. GC has great folks who want to see the program thrive, but unfortunately, it is what it is; a total mess.

I think your statement is true, our team is divided and not preforming, to many ego's, and politic's, players need to understand, the team comes first, with orobaly 5 to 7 starters out this week, it's going to be tough young guy's will have to step up this week, also, coach has to get control of the team, we just have to overcome.:laugh:confused:

I recall going to the games as a boy at GC when Mr. Greenslate would highstep out of the huddle to the center's position on the line of scrimmage. They were state champs, and I can recall how as a boy I was impressed with their practice. I lived straight across from the high school and my friends and I would watch practice. The discipline it took to win a state championship was obvious. Amazing really, how things have changed in 30 years. What should have been the foundation for a long line of success in the area has been just the opposite. With the chaos and injuries, I expect Coach Evans and Boyd will finally notch one in the W column. Good luck to both teams and I hope there are no injuries for either side when all is said and done.

I live in Greenup County and just hate to see this happen to the kids. What do you do when a program is just failing? I know what I would do but would rather not get into that until after the season is over.
