SEC Hot Seat

Featured Replies

What SEC coach is on the hottest seat right now?

Phil Fulmer Tennessee 2-2 no significant wins this season

Ed Orgeron Ole Miss- 1-3 only win over Memphis and in his 3rd season still looking for a signature win

Tommy Tuberville Auburn 2-2. Two bad home loses to Miss. State and South Florida

Sylvester Croom 3-1. Fourth year as head coach significant win over Auburn this year but while they are 3-1 right now they could very well finish the season 4-8 or 3-9 with no real gimmes left on the schedule except UAB.

And that's the same UAB that gave Bobby Bowden and the Florida State Seminoles all they wanted, too.

Very hard to call that game a "gimme".

South Florida beat them in overtime. The Bulls are ranked #18 in the country and will give West Virginia all they want this weekend. That's far from a "bad loss."

As for Mississippi State...

Add Houston Nutt to that list after their loss to UK. That did not sit well with the Hogs fans at all!

I would think Tubbervilles seat is the hottest.

Bulls may be ranked but I'm pretty sure Auburn fans won't take it well regardless. Just think back two or three years ago they tried to interview Petrino before Tuberville's bowl game.

I know one thing...that Rick Brooks is not on any sort of hot seat...If anything he is on a extra "cool" seat! :D

I think Tuberville will be OK. At least, he won't be fired this year. Croom has cooled his seat down a bit with a solid open, but if they finish bad, he might be out. How long has Orgeron been at Ole Miss? Fulmer should have been fired already...if UT finishes as I expect, I think he'll probably keep his job, but the 2008 season will determine his fate.

This is Orgeron's 3rd season, and he was a chief assistant coach for Pete Carroll on first USC title team.

Orgeron missed his big opportunity this past weekend to cool down his seat.

Croom has to be at the top of the list. Just behind is Fulmer. A loss to UK may send him packing.

I would say Fulmer leads the pack

I would say that Tubberville is hearing some rumbles but I think that he will remain. Nutt at Arkansas jus may be. Arkansas I believe has lost 5 out of their last 6 games going back to last season and have dropped two conference games in a row to Bama and Kentucky with the best RB in the NCAA in McFadden and another very good one in his running mate in the backfield (25, I can't think of the name right now). Fulmer up on Rotten Flop as well would be in trouble if things don't really improve.

What has hurt Tubberville the most is the hiring of Nick Saban. If he loses to 'Bama and continues to lose the state's best to their rival, he could be in some trouble.

Phil Fulmer Tennessee 2-2. I think that he is on a huge hot seat. Getting man handle by the gators and not doing that great last season puts him on a very hot seat. He needs to have a strong end of the season.

Tuberville and probably Fulmer.
