Now that we are about halfway through the 2007 season, let's take a look back at the first half of the season in NKY. Consider the following issues:

2. Biggest disappointment (team) in NKY so far

3. Best coaching job in NKY so far

4. Best football game in NKY so far

5. Best offense in NKY so far

6. Best defense in NKY so far

7. Best special teams in NKY so far

8. Best player in NKY so far

9. Best overall team in NKY so far

Bellevue defeated a highly touted and fully loaded Newport team in week 1. They defeated what was a tough Paris team in week 2. Ludlow played very well against them in week 3 and Bellevue still won. I will give you they didn't play at all against NCC. They did as expected and defeated Brossart.

 

Let's face it. When they beat Newport it ruined Newport's season. They lost thier QB, injured their best back, and in general that game caused a lot of problems to surface in Newport. Paris lost 3 two way starters in the Bellevue game. They are not the same team they were when they showed up in Bellevue. To say Ludlow played poorly against Bellevue is a joke. Ludlow did a great job and was a fine team until they lost their qb.

 

Give the boys from Bellevue a little credit. No one picked them to be 4-1 at this point and they are.

 

 

Newport fully loaded? The team that was picked 3rd or last in the 2A district?

Paris a tough team? The Paris team that might miss the playoffs in a 5 team district?

Ludlow was picked to be in a battle for the 2-4 spot in the district and give Bellevue credit there because that was a good road win. Those teams are a combined 2-12.

 

No one thought Bellevue would be 4-1?? I did. At worst I thought they would be 4-2 after the first six games and at best 5-1.

 

Again they can't help it that Newport, Paris, Bracken, Brossart are all at the front of the schedule.

 

But be impartial for a second. You have to admit Dayton has played a schedule much better to this point of the year. That may even out a little as Bellevue gets into the tougher part of their schedule.

Holmes: Up and down as expected with new staff. Missing the playoffs would have been unexpected though at the start of the season.

 

 

Not out of playoffs yet. If they beat CovCath it forces a 3 way tie breaker between CCH, Holmes and Scott. If they beat CCH and Dixie they are in.

What sense would it make for a school with 120 boys, all of whom live within one mile of the school, to play schools with 600 or 700 boys in the regular season? Isn't it enough that they play a couple of lower division all star teams? By the way, the Tigers also scrimmaged Campbell Co. and Grant Co. Also, under the old system Lloyd and Newport would still be AA.

 

Dayton played two 5a schools and beat both of them. They scrimmaged simon kenton a 6a team. And personally this has got them ready for the season (hint: 4 games won in the 4th quater). Sounds like a little stronger schedule might have its advantages???? i.e. it does

You uptown boys don't ever look south of the Boone County line... My beloved Gallatin County Wildcats are having a tremendous season @ 4-1. I know they are not HHS, or anything even close... But for a 2nd year program they are great!!!:jump: Down here south of the border, we are all partying at the success they are having.:dancingpa

Dixie is getting ready to get thier motors in full gear I feel. These next couple weeks until the playoffs Dixie will be getting better at every aspect. I feel by the time CCH rolls around they will be in there prime, just in time for the Bluebirds. Dixie pulls off the upset (based on the first half they can move it agianst the Birds, just need a full game) against Highlands. Then goes to state to win it all.

I don't think Dale has to answer I saw 1 team beat the other 44-28. So that told me until they play again Dixie is better than Cov. Cath.

 

To prove how rediculous it is to say 1 team is better than the other based on scores I give you last year.

HHS 49- DHHS 0

CCH 28- DHHS 7

 

CCH then beats Highlands twice.

Well, it's good to see everyone pulling for their team and showing respect for others. The season so far is leading to some interesting playoff senerios. IMHO, if Highlands doesn't open up their passing game more, (besides Drapier), they will have trouble in the playoffs against the better teams who are training to counter their run game. Any reason Collingsworth doesn't play wide receiver?:fight:
