In the "way you word things" mentality of today's society, I think it might become referred to as "selective scheduling." Less negative tone than boycotting.:sssh:

No, I think boycotting is fine.

 

Unless you would prefer cowering away from competition. I could go for that one.

Again, I take the stance that schools have a right to schedule whom they want.

 

And the reasons vary: because of level of competition (including HS's who refuse to schedule teams that are below the level of competition they want to play), don't like the atmosphere playing at their place, don't like the coach, not in their conference, region, district, too far to drive, etc, etc

They didn't seem to mind playing Brossart's fledgling football team this fall. Will they refuse to schedule them in other sports?

Last year in Football they did not play any private schools, 06/07 boys basketball did not play any private schools and 06/07 Girls Basketball only played private School St. Francis in a tournament. I really do not think they ever have had privates on their schedule as it is...boycott?

 

Is there some thing to substantiate this or is it just because they are not on the schedule.

They didn't seem to mind playing Brossart's fledgling football team this fall. Will they refuse to schedule them in other sports?

I think the edict came down AFTER that game was on the schedule and the season had started.

 

I would be surprised, unless they have a contract that calls for it, to see Brossart on the football schedule next year.

Check the schedules of some of the sports in the spring and fall, especially on the girls' side. My understanding, games have been cancelled that were scheduled to be played in either the winter or spring sports.

Some schools who are considering such a boycott would not get support from their athletes. In some areas , NKY specifically, the natural rivalries that are in place would be a loss to the not only the private school kids (obviously, thats not a concern) but also the public school kids who grew up with their counterparts and look forward to playing against them.

You are right on and good post. But there are also some athletes who feel privates do have advantages and have no problem with the boycott.

Definitely the case...Unless we are meeting in a tournament or invited for a scrimmage there are just not any private schools in our area that we historically schedule.

 

You could look at most of the schools in the 31st district and others and think it was a boycott but I just do not see the privates adding us to their schedule for proximity reasons alone. There is plenty of competition much closer to home.
