The Success of Rich Brooks

Featured Replies

Man, I remember a couple years ago about how everyone wanted Rich Brooks out and all the bad media about him. NOW, IMHO he deserves a contract extension and despite all the probations and loss of scholarships he has UK doing things they haven't done in 21 and 30 years!!! Good job coach Brooks and keep the excitement going!!!:ylsuper:

I was one of those that thought it was the wrong hire for the long run meaning someone to be here for the past 2-3 seasons and maybe the next 7-10. He has done great and deserves that credit.

Didn't he get an extension after the Music City Bowl?

If the Music City bowl was before December 23, 2006 then the answer is yes.

I supported him because he was the UK coach. I felt that he was doing it the right way and taking the slings and arrows better than many would have. I can say that I wasn't aware of who he was until he became a candidate for the UK job. I sure am glad he came here and am proud to see him do what he has done, ... and do it the right way. He has brought UK football from the depths of probation to the AP top 25. Way to go coach, way to go!

I admit that I was one that was calling for him out. I have accepted my crow and will say that he has done avery good job from where the program was to where it is now.

Don't feel bad, ... you were in the majority.

If there was ever an example of "let the new guy have time and let his recruits get in and mature," this is it. He turned around some dreadful efforts by players recruited by the previous regime and he seems to be able to recruit new SEC caliber players. How can you argue with that?

I'm one, who was not impressed with Coach Brooks when hired and his early tenure.

1) I said he wasn't the Coach, to turn the program around and get them competitive again.

2) I also questioned his ability to recruiting.

3) I also didn't like the offensive and defensive schemes.

4) I didn't like some of his coaches.

....I'll go on record, saying "Well done Coach Brooks and you've proved me to be, wrong and uniformed". Keep up the continues success, as the UK fans deserve are loyal.

All this had me wondering........When, if ever, has UK been ranked ahead of Michigan, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Florida State, Miami, and Tennessee at the same time?

I was always a bit leary of Brooks, but last year was his make or break season in my eyes. Thats when he'd been around long enough to get it going, and he came through. He's not flashy, but he's a class guy and I'm all for him now.

Coach Brooks is a class act and we are lucky to have him at UK.

^'51 and '77 are the only possibilities IMO...
