Mayfield 17 Graves Co 0

The Cardinals defense looked awesome and stayed away from the big play... They didn't commit a turnover and had very few penalties... QB Logan Armstrong was injured early in the 2nd half and the Cards offense was a little handcuffed having to go with a freshman QB the rest of the game...Hopefully, the injury isnt too serious...

Good job, Cardinals. Wow.

HUGE win for the Cards! held the Graves Eagles to 190 yards offense. Mayfield QB Logan Armstrong who is also a starting LB dislocated his shoulder midway through the 2nd quarter but should be okay from earlier reports. The loss of Armstrong really turned the Cards offense to vanilla. Frosh QB Luke Guhy did a good job under extreme circumstances. The story of this game was field position and defense and Mayfield did a textbook job of both. Graves espically in the first half started every series deep in their own territory due to Mayfield's all state caliber kicking and punting game.

Great gutsy win for the Cardinals. I think this victory says alot about this team. They played with much emotion and desire. This team can get better and play for a state title.

Mayfield still has a long way to go, but this was an awesome game. The line sprung the RB's for several great runs........#23,I think, busted a huge run. Mayfield played smart football. Graves had a few dropped passes, but other than that, Mayfield just took everything away from them. Gotta love shutting out the county rival. On a side note, Graves looked better on the defensive side of the ball, which is bad considering offense was their strong point.....Call me crazy, but i don't see a bright future for Graves Co. in 6A this year.............

Good job Cardinals!!

Yeah, I was wondering when Noonan was going to get the ball, no handoffs to him in the first half, not even sure they had him on the offense in the first half. Looks like coach morris waited till the second half when Graves defense was wore out and let him run free, he is quite a weapon for Mayfield. Mayfield's pass defense was much improved tonight than in many moons I have seen. I believe Graves' #79 on defense is a stud, he was in on many plays making some great tackles. What a huge line Graves has!! It made us look like a middle school team out there.

Yeah a middle school team beating a varsity team LOL.

What a game. My throat hurts so much from shouting at the game that I can't talk LOL. The score of this game may lead someone to think it was a close game but Mayfield shut out Graves in every aspect of the game. I haven't seen Mayfield's defense play like this since 2002. What I think helps Mayfield most is that they can bring in other players so people can get a rest instead of staying on the field the whole game. This might be the best conditioned Mayfield team in years. What makes this win so great is that the team rallied after their QB and leader of the team went out of the game. What I have seen and heard from different players is that if QB Logan Armstrong asked them to run thru a brick wall they would do it and that is something they didn't have last year.

What will hurt Graves so much is that after our QB went out they still lost. A big hats off to Coach Joe and the rest of the staff because they had those boys ready to play. My son woke up Friday morning and he wouldn't even talk to me. Said he was in game mode LOL.

Your son was handling his men very well, I saw one play where he pushed the guy right into the QB, lol.

When anybody gets some stats, please post em in here, thanks.

Graves County

First Downs 12

Rush Attempts 29 yards 150

Passing 7-23-1 for 42 yards

Total yards 192

Penalities 5-39

Mayfield

First Downs 9

Rush Attempts 42 yards 201

Passing 2-4-0 for 34 yards

Total yards 235

Penalities 6-30

I have to echo what everyone else said about the game...great win for the Cards Friday night especially since they did it most of the night without Logan...who had a seperated shoulder and according to Coach Morris this morning on his radio show says that they will re-evaluate him Monday and see how bad it hurts and go from there. Great job by the Cards in every aspect of the game and what a job by Freshman QB Luke Guhy...didn't complete any of his two passes, but to come in and take the snaps without any bobbles and fumbles on the handoffs. Not to mention that he was the holder on the FG and pat once Logan got hurt.

Once again great win especially since anyone not a true Cardinal fan...and even some that claim to be true Cardinal fans....was predicting a Graves County win last night.

This team has some work to do...but the future (barring anymore injuries) looks very bright this year. Just have to make sure that we take care of business Friday night against Crittenden County in district play.

GREAT JOB CARDS!!!

Congrats to Mayfield! Having seen Graves Co play I can say that they are certianly not a push over. I was wondering if this is the only case of a 1A team beating a 6A team so far this year?
