September 9, 200719 yr I was watching a program and the discussion of mandatory DNA samples, was brought up by a D.A. His thought process was, if every person have to provide a mandatory DNA sample, it could help Law Enforcement officials, in cases where analysis determined DNA but no ID or additional information. Should we also, have to provide Fingerprints. Both FP and DNA, could be stored/archived, in some centrally stored database and utilized for comparison. What are your thoughts....
September 9, 200719 yr I'm not really opposed to this. It might be a deterant if you know there is a DNA profile or a file w/ your fingerprints in it somewhere. On the flipside, it could make you a potential suspect for something you have nothing to do w/ because you were there 5 minutes before a crime was commited and left a print on a door or something. I wouldn't fight it if it were a law. It's kind of like registering a handgun. I have no problem w/ my guns being registered. Only those who may use them for a crime are opposed to it.
September 9, 200719 yr Some people already have provided fingerprints (depending on where you are employed). I'm not crazy about the idea of providing DNA samples.
September 9, 200719 yr I don't see what the problem would be. Of course, I see nothing wrong with wiretapping, either.

September 9, 200719 yr I don't know what kind of time frame we're looking at but I think it will eventually be standard practice sometime in the future.
September 9, 200719 yr :thumb: Just keeps honest people honest, IMO. So you're OK with the local police coming into your house 24/7 to see if you're doing anything illegal?
September 9, 200719 yr Terrible idea. I am not OK with having to account for my whereabouts simply because some criminal decides to fish a few items out of my trash and then leave them at a crime scene.

I'm not crazy about the idea of providing DNA samples. What about making it mandatory, say when you register to vote, start High School or another prescribed time. Would this help deter or possibly even lead to the capture, of more criminals of unsolved crimes.
