Nobody is really fine after a mild concussion (reported by many NCC players). Especially young people under 18. That is why the KHSAA has guidlines on this. If the effects last under 15 minutes, then they are encouraged to go home, and rest. If the effects are longer than that or they lose consciousness, then they should see a doctor, which I think is a 7 day hold out.

If I were an NCC fan, I would be worried about playing my #1 QB against Bellevue in a non-district game. Why take the chance on a big hit? Not wise on the coaches part!

 

To the bolded part, I'm not sure of the time period, but I know the time period begins AFTER the symptoms/effects subside, not when the concussion occured. If he is showing ill effects, Parr is a very, very capable option.

It also depends on if he saw a physician about it.

NCC Proud Papa first of all Bellevue did not have to play NCC but continues to do so first for the need for great non district opponents and secondly because of the relationship between Bellevue's AD and NCC. Quite frankly NCC couldn't get any of the other small A schools to play them.

 

This game is good for Bellevue and I do not see any need for any degrading of Bellevue's schedule. They play a very good non district schedule.

 

In the past 4 years in both basketball and football NCC has NOT run up the score if the game has gotten out of hand. Give your coaches a little more credit than they don't like them so they will run it up. On the contrary things are very amicable and Bellevue has tremendous respect for NCC and NCC has shown Bellevue respect. If not then Bellevue would never have scheduled this game.

I don't like to sound so confident about this but NCC does not like Bellevue for whatever reason. This will get ugly fast. Breds by whatever the coaching staff wants. A former Bellevue coach started this with the NCC program. It will not soon be forgotten. How in the world can you even compare these two teams. 3-0 means nothing. Is Covington Latin on Bellevue's schedule, what week

 

I dont think anything like this needs to be brought up in the thread. There are several stories I could share about this rivalry but use some discretion will ya?

Three grades of concussions put in simple terms: 1)symptoms less than 15 min w/consciousness, 2)symptoms longer than 15 min w/consciousness, and 3)no consciousness.

 

W/any head injury these players should be seen by a doctor and if this happened in a game I am sure the NCC DR/ATC looked at him to make sure he is OK. Usually w/a GR 3 concussion, they will miss a week of contact but could be cleared by the next game depending on the symptoms shown during the week off.

 

According to KHSAA rules if a player is knocked out during a game, there is a form that must be signed by a DR in order for him to return in that same game, which I have never seen happen in 25 yrs. They are usually done for the night. Otherwise, they can continue to play on the discretion of the medical staff.

I was talking about the 3 river schools. I am aware that Beechwood is playing them. My point was Bellevue is choosing to play NCC and NCC normally if not always shows class if these games become blowouts.

 

 

I don't think Papa's points of badblood are valid and I know that the NCC people and the Bellevue administration get along just fine and in fact I know Bellevue and NCC were talking together about Bellevue borrowing the gym if the air conditioning construction in Bellevue caused the gym to be closed............

Never hurts to "season" a back-up. Why take the chance to do serious damage when you don't have to?

This game will be alot closer then what people think it will be. I see it coming down to the forth and whos more conditioned and who reacts to adversity better. Bellevue by 8

NCC should have talented teams, they draw from a wide area and usually get some of the best athletes looking for a Catholic high school education in Campbell Co.

Agreed on all accounts. NewCath should, and usually does, play its game with class and dignity. Downgrading opponents shouldn't be part of our MO. NewCath is coming off of a loss. While the players will use it as motivation, we as fans need to realize that while we are a good NKY program, we are far from the best up here. We have no room to call into question another teams schedule, unless we are talking about teams in our District (a school of comparable size). Therefore, give Bellevue its due and meet them on the field. See you next week 3-1.

I think you might see Parr at some point, but that might not be the first option.

Good post Mexitucky. Newcath does exude class even if I am not an NCC fan. I hope Bellevue can at least move the ball on them but even if they don't it is a great game for Bellevue to look at deficiences before playing more district opponents.

This game for the Tigers is to make a statement. They may not win but they can show everybody who they are. This is a good comparison for the Tigers in red

Are you serious about this? Bellevue plays a similar schedule to what NCC used to play until the old man realized he couldn't get it down and then let his son take over (then they became the decent team that they are) Bob just sits there a collects the wins
