Just a couple of comments about the Broadcast. First of all, a great game and certainly the Trinity announcers are going to be excited for their team.

Yes they mentioned the calls often but in the context of the game. Trinity had a promising drive from first and goal from the 10(just inside) that got down to the 2 but pushed back to the 14 on a holding call against them. T has to settle for a field goal so I am sure the T faithful were sensitive to seeing holding calls. Notice next game that when a pass interference call is made, the rest of the game the offending team wants pass interference called for them. The referee was a senior official working in his over 35th year so he has done State Finals before and works on Saturday in college so he knows when to call a hold. Usually fans will see the "holding calls" on the outside that is usually the wing officials call if done by the tight end or outside tackle. Chances are that might of been to the visitors sideline.

That is why a lot of teams will run punts back to their side because coaches make it hard on officials.

As to my analysis of Trinity's broadcasts, I think they do a wonderful job with the amount of services or websites they promote. The running stats is a great feature to get the radio listener involved with the game. I think the color commentator gives "coach speak" with tremendous detail about the defenses, "Cover 2, Will LInebacker" etc almost to the point of you need to have played the game to follow him but that is the audience he is broadcasting to. Personally, I think they throw it to the sideline reporter too much, they even tried to go back to him after interviewing Coach Beatty but that's IMHO.

One thing that I found interesting is in the post game wrap up, the lead announcer gave kudos to Bowling Green and how the final score didn't indicate how close the game was. He used the term that the "final margin of victory was 11 but it could of been 1." I guess he could be commended for not even considering that Bowling Green could of won that game but I thought it was up in the air on both sides IMHO.

You must not catch many high shool broadcasts.

All I can say is if your "many Trinity friends" have listened to enoughTHS radio to know they're "the worst ever", then I suggest they contact the athletic office or administration to let them know. I know THS is concerened w/their image, and if "the many Trinity friends" are real fans they should demand a worthy product... not "the worst ever".

AMEN!!!

Good and valid observations.....esp. with regard to the Referee. I know how hard they work to be fair and even handed to each team. I thought it was a great crew.......but also....like the rest of us...........human..........

Just to address the congregation befor church lets out.... My initial comments were directed to the radio crews comments on the lack of holding calls only...... I find listening, when I can, to be quite humorous and I enjoy the call.... WRT the thread, sounds as if there was blantant holding on nearly every play.... Sounds as if this should and needs to be address by the football officials association. If the official keeps throwing the flag, evenutally, the teams will learn.... Thanks to all for the feedback.

Here's the 3 things to consider about that comment: Number 1- what happens when there is a flag on every play. Coaches complain, players complain, fans boo, long long game. Have you even been to a game with 250 yards of penalties? Number 2 As you go up the ladder, you are taught to throw the flag when it is play affecting. Case in point-sweep right, left end holds the cornerback 40 yards from the play. High school-mechanics- throw the flag. College- don't throw the flag. Talk to the left end. You tell him "I saw what you did" - and you;ll be watching next play. Advantage disadvantage.

Number 3- you throw the flag against (Insert school here) Next year, the coach scratches so you never work another game for that team. That sometimes is the thought process with younger officials. With more seasoned guys- if the coach is a jerk now then he'll be a jerk next year too and there are other games to work. Flag it when you see it if it affects the play.

I'll just say this:

There are a number of times that guys in the booth are my "eyes" to the game. I appreciate all their efforts and their service to not only the Trinity Program, but the Trinity fans. Thanks guys! You keep many Trinity alum and fans "at the game", when we can't be "at the game". :thumb:

Besides the holding calls, a personal foul was called against T by two officials that were 15 yards away from the play. One official was right beside the play and did not even reach from his flag. This had to be inexperienced officials. Yes, it did affect the play because it gave them 15 more yards. T fans thought it was a good call because it was on the other side of the field and didn't know better, but in reality, it was a good clean shot at the QB.

All players and coaches must adapt to how the game is being called or officiated. If the officials are consistently calling it tight, then the team which modifies their play will have fewer penalties.... If we are to accept the the reasoning in post #36, then why all the wineing on the radio????

So now you see the reason for the thread.......

Don't like it, don't listen.

Lot of whining on radio, but go to the home stands when a home team is getting pounded. It gets bad.

The whole Rocks crew does a nice job, I really like how they have John King giving the on field report he does a nice job. Keep up the good work!

Keep Kicking!

Special Teams Rule!

I happened to catch the second half of the Trinity vs. BG game on the Trinity radio network and I'm not sure I have ever heard such wining and crying for holding calls..... Seriously, guys give it a rest. Your not going to get EVERY CALL. EVEN at Home...... Just really got tired of hearing about all the "missed" holding calls and not the play.....

Anyone else have a similar perspective???

Were you there? No, you were listening on the radio so you don't know, they all could have been very bad calls. They are broadcasting the game! What do you expect them to do if they see the wrong calls being made? Or think calls are not being made? Just sit there and not say a thing?
