Highlands 49 Ryle 21

Featured Replies

Before you go off on a rampage i'm gonna calm you down. HHS is well known to be pretty much one of the top teams in NKY. I feel again they will be this year. But Ryle did not have the personel to expose them like other really good teams will.

I'm not arguing that. I'm simply saying that you cannot equate lack of D1 talent to the ability to win the state. It happens too many times.

What will good teams expose? enlighten us. It was their first game for heaven sake. They scored 49 pts and could have scored 60 if they wanted to.

49 against a decent team with a new o-line on opening night is nothing but a positive.

Like I said, they could have scored 2 more times if Cecil starts the 2nd half and they dont fumble so much. But I will take a 28 pt win on the road against the STate Runner up in 6A any day of the week.

I am sure Dale will find some flaws in the film and correct them but what about the team speed overall. Collinsworth blazed by players, Conners showed his acceleration, Hurtt on a nice cutback and misdirection, Crawford has nice speed and then there is Cecil who can get to the outside right now.

I personally thought Ryle looked terrible. They looked like Boone Co trying to throw passes in the late 90's. Trotwood will give us more info on HHS from what I am hearing. I don't know much about them but they sound good. I know if HHS tried to stack up with Cincy St X or Elder this year they would probably get manhandled. Just from first impression I don't see this being an elite HHS team, but they look good. And by all means im sure they are a LEGIT 3A contender.

Check back on the Birds in December when they are hoisting the trophy because that is all they care about, not how many D-1 athletes they have or whether or not they are better than the 2004 team. In fact tune in weekly and read about many lopsided Bird wins.

They are?

And I hope they do win the championship I like HHS. I don't know what other kind of competition they face in there division this year. If the competition is fierce they will have to play a great season. I think you are agreeing they don't have the talent of 2001, or 2004.

Maybe not 2004 but like I said, it doesnt matter. Football is a team game so lets hope they continue to play as a team.

Showing your age, BF. You should have said "ludacris."

Want to hear something funny? I used the spell check so I wouldn't accidentally use his name!

And that is the point i've been trying to make for 20 mins now when I said they don't have the same kinda studs from the past. Those other teams could have played with anyone in KY and most teams in Cincy. But I agree I think HHS will be strong in KY this year. I just don't know what kinda competition they will face in December. If there are loaded up Boyle teams and LexCath teams HHS will have to step it up a notch.

I was at the game and Highlands has so much speed very impressive.

Are you drinking tonight?

From watching the game on the webcast, I really didn't get a great feel for either team. The camera was focused fairly tightly on the ball all night long. You couldn't really see what the lines were doing, or receivers and dbs down the field. However, there's no question that Highlands was the better team, and IMO, they could've put more point on the board.

"cough" reclassification "cough"

Highlands appears to be as advertised. If they find a way to turn those incomplete passes to completions their offense will be very, very scary.

Ryle isn't a bad team. I saw flashes of a solid team out there tonight, it was just a matter of putting it together all at once. If they can grease the wheels a little bit and get everything in line I think they can have a very successful year.
