St. X 18 Ballard 14

Featured Replies

Great win for the Tigers, it was a truly great moment in Tiger history. All ex-tiger football players should be proud. Great job by both teams. Ballard for real now? I loved the stadium, first class!!!

So how did Finch look in his official debut as the X feature back?

X seemed really tight in the first half. Pressure to win in the new stadium was obvious, plus Ballard's qb can play. Ballards play calling got very conservative once they had the lead, otherwise they might have pulled off the upset.

Ballard had it and gave it away in the second half. Ballard QB is a player. Would this game been a little different if the game been moved back to 8pm? Do not understand why X is any different than other schools in just moving it back 30 minutes. Heat did assist X in this victory, not doubt.

If St. X doesn't improve a lot over last night, they will be in for a long year!

It appears they continue to use the off-tackle and dive plays as they always have but their O-line doesn't seem to be near as big or physical as in the recent past and they really weren't getting a great push on Ballard until they got tired.

Just one fans thought!

Congratulations on a beautiful stadium and hard fought win.

What would have been w/ Sir? Maybe teams should start shipping cell phones to opposing star players every week.

This game was clearly the "ticket to get / have". Sounds like a great contest. Good for X for pulling it out - under what had to be a high degree of pressure and Congrats to Ballard for competing as they did and almost pulling off what would have been incredible upset of significant proportions.

Very good. Deuce is a legitimate D-I talent, and more importantly, is a good, humble kid.

The heat index was not 105, it should not have been moved back. X IS different than JCPS, just like we are.

He is...he had two nice carries. Things to improve on, are his stamina, and how he carries that ball away from his body, he laid it on the carpet again last night.

99.9% of all team improve from the 1st game, I would not read to much into the 1st game. The main thing is they won.

Ballard: Played a good game. Nearly good enough for the W. 2nd QB was very talanted, quick and can throw the ball. Ballard OL and DL more than held their own. Of X's 9 first downs, 8 came on the two drives in the second half.... Ballard may have wore out, no excuse, but they certianly have a good team and if they improve they could be a third round play off team....

St. X: Pretty much the same old early season hickups. Offense was basically non existent in first half. Poor blocking, running, passing and catching.... Improved the 2nd half yet no where near where they should be. If I had to give praise to individual players: Defensive Back C. Hale played a heck of a game. Numerous tackles, two big pass deflections, one INT on Man on Man coverage deep in X territory to seal the game. The pick was a very well thorwn ball down field. Excellent effort to go up and get the ball. Tigers need to keep working on all phases of the game. Just maybe they will be a 3rd round playoff team as well....

"We told all the coaches at all the levels: Pity the first team that loses the first game here," Glaser said.

Come on Mike, it's going to happen eventually. I'm sure he had to have a big smile on his face when he said this (I hope). That's not the kind of pressure you want on the kids or coaches.

Thats similer to statement that D. Lampley told his team several years ago. " We are not going to punt in the second half".... Thats a lot of pressure as well....

^ that truly seems pertinent to this thread.
