Question for Beechwood Fans?

Featured Replies

He ain't worth brown-nosing.

I've always felt that if Beechwood and Mayfield had played five times that year, Beechwood would've won three ... but the Cardinals won the one that counted.

I'll take my one

Several said Beechwood would run the 1A table in the Bwood- Highlands scrimmage thread. That is where I am guessing some of it came from but that was not really a thread meant for Mayfield or anyother 1A teams as a shot over the bow.

Again off the topic but it sounds like its better for Mayfield that Beechwood has to make that trip out west. We may need all the help we can get if the Beechies are that kinda strong this year. This should be a pretty good Mayfield team but by no means is it gonna turn out to be one of the Cards strongest ever.

Also off topic but somthing has gotta be done about this alignment. Assuming Beechwood has to travel to Mayfield if both win out. The Beechwood fans that decide to travel to Mayfield will find out that this is just wrong for teams to have to travel these kind of distances to play. I can leave Mayfield and go to Destin, Florida and its not alot further than if I travel to Cincy. I hope that a neutral site is given serious consideration for the future, espically given that both these teams are good bets to meet alot in the comming years. Its not fair to players, coaches, fans and pocket books with the cost of petro these days

I agree 100% :thumb: This new alignment has divided the state in half for 1A, with only caverna in the middle alone, its just ridiculous. I don't know if any of you Beechwood fans have ever driven across the state but it is not a fun one and it takes a toll on the players, just ask the Bardstown guys.

I would really like to see both Mayfield and Beechwood playing 2a.. This would keep the NCC rivalry going strong as well as start a good one with Lloyd, Newport and Holy Cross, which I believe the Tiger fans would like alot better, plus it would renew some old rivalries for Mayfield with Ft Campbell, Trigg Co, Caldwell Co and Heath and get Mayfields 2nd oldest rival(Murray) back in the fold and OCatholic would be a new rival to watch for. I also believe the Card faithful would like that schedule alot better. I'm sure neither would win as many championships, but, when they did, it would be alot sweeter...

I am with you, I think that Mayfield's staff should seriously consider moving to 2A in the future, but I am sure they are looking at a lot more things than we know, but as a fan I would absolutely love it. It would even give both Beechwood's and Mayfield's districts more parity, it is definitely and interesting thought.

I don't think you can just "decide" to play up in another class. I think you have to have a "reason" such as no district teams within X number of miles.

Teams can apply to "play up" for any reason they want. The KHSAA still has to approve it, and it's my understanding that some requests were turned down last year.

I think you are right, I was reading thru the KHSAA site and I came across this document, http://www.khsaa.org/football/realignment/finalalignmentcoverletter2006.pdf in it it states this "Schools desiring to play-up. Eleven requests to play into a higher class were considered, with six

of them being approved. The primary determining factor in approving a request to play up was

geography, and equally important conditions for denial of a request to play up was reference to

competitive ability; a move that would leave the former district with less than four teams or more than

six teams; or moves that significantly impacted schools that had not had an opportunity to respond to

the changes."

Mayfield *could* technically move up I would think, but it does say that only six of eleven were approved.

Personally, I dont know how Mayfield got dragged into this. The whole thread was asking if this was the best Beechwood team ever as some have stated. When I said defend your position, either tell me why you think they are or why you think they're not.. I simply found it a little strange to get beat like that, scrimmage or not, format or not, and then have some make those claims.

Good question on how Mayfield got dragged in. I'm too lazy to look back.

Look, I have no clue if this is the best Beechwood team. My ORIGINAL point was that you cannot look at a scrimmage unless you were there (I wasn't) to see with your own eyes what the team looks like. 49-14 tells me nothing. Did they do 10 and 10? Was one team working on a particular aspect of their game? Were they trying different personnel? Too many factors.

With Mayfield's dwindling enrollment I believe they need to stay where they are...However, I will say I miss Hopkinsville, Murray High, and Danville...plus it stinks that Beechwood is in our bracket, just doesn't seem right!

This thread is about Beechwood. If anyone wants to talk about Mayfield let's start another thread.
