Didn't one of his former Brave closer teammates, commit a robbery after being away from the game. Didn't Bob Horner, have some problems.

Kudos to Dale Murphy :ylsuper: :ylsuper: , he is one of my all time favorite players. Murphy and Bob Horner "carried" the Braves (yes, I actually liked watching the Braves with those two :eek: :lol: ) through some tough times and jmo but the Braves then threw them out like yesterdays garbage:irked: but that is another subject.

(Imo it is just a sad thing in todays world that some kids probably cannot or should not do that.)

I grew up watching Dale Murphy, I was too young to truly appreciate how great he was. Along with Trammell, Whitaker, Yount, all those great, great players.

 

I can imagine his feelings reflect the thoughts of quite a few players, will be very interesting to see how it all plays out when Bonds is eligible for the HOF.

That's my biggest problem with this whole issue. Why is Bonds being singled out, when numerous others have cheated in some way, shape, or form?

 

Is it because he's that much better than everyone else at what he does?

 

Is it because everyone thought 755 was so untouchable that when someone actually goes beyond it, there must be some sort of foul play?

 

Murphy may be right that Bonds isn't a good role model, but neither are 90% of professional athletes.

The difference is that no one is stopping the game or putting the player's names in lights when he gambles/drinks/cheats on his wife. Those are all actions that we as parents have no trouble explaining away.

And I don't deny that he does any of that. What I can't understand is why the media and fans single Bonds out for it, when 90% (okay so maybe that's a stretch) of professional athletes are the same way.

That's the problem, many times they are tried to be explained away. I just watched a pre-game with Reds and one was interviewing Hal and they both agreed, shame what Bonds was doing and one offered "A-Rod will pass him but not soon enough" (paraphrasing)....

 

I can then turn over to watch a Braves game and here nothing, but accolades for Chipper Jones. I can't understand but certainly can, draw conclusions.

 

For every action, there is an equal or opposite reaction and I guess the same, can be applied to "justifications".
