You can narrow it down to these 7 coaches. Obviously it would behoove them to have another SEC team ranked...;)

They shouldn't issue any kind of poll til October, but what can you do.

I didn't even notice that Duke got a vote, my holy goodness. They were picked to finish dead last in the ACC this year by the coaches. That would be as good as a reason of any as to why this poll is useless.

The read question is who voted for Duke? :creepy:

Spurrier does it every year. He coached there way back when and has given them a vote every year he has been part of the poll. Goes to show how important these things really are... ;)

First USA Today Coaches Poll is out....

UL checks in at #11.

UK gets a vote.

Nothing more useless than a preseason poll.

I agree, a prseason poll can only hurt a team in the way that if you are ranked down the list on a pre season poll then there is a lot of teams to jump over to get to the top for as BCS bid. (AP.Coaches/BCS polls)

I think I saw last year that Steve Spurrier always votes for Duke as a way of repaying them for giving him a shot at coaching.

^ Looks like someone beat me to it.

:thumb: :thumb: I remember Spurrier saying that as well.

If it wasn't Spurrier it was probably Coach "K" - he thought that Duke was being treated unfairly and everyone was against them. :sssh:

What a way to repay them, patronize them with a token vote. I'm sure they take a great deal of pride in that.

This is what he had to say when asked about it last year.

Yeah, I claim that," the South Carolina coach told the Journal-Constitution. "I've been voting for the boys from Duke since, oh, about 1990, whenever I started voting on that poll. I just want 'em to know that I haven't forgotten about 'em and I appreciate everything they did for me. That's why I did it."

And the blogger had this to say:

Such is a classy move by a coach whom many prefer to consider classless. Hopefully, a time will come in the not-too-distant future when Duke is receiving votes in the preseason poll out of reputation, too, rather than simple loyalty.
