August 3, 200719 yr I'm sure he is doing it to be nice to them, but I think it is a bit of a mockery. Poor Duke Football...they may be the 2nd most slighted football team in NCAA Div I....only behind UK. Go Duke!:banana:

August 4, 200719 yr Six SEC teams ranked in the top 25. I would look for those to remain in the top 25 and possibly South Carolina to join the top 25 before the season is out.
August 4, 200719 yr In basketball yes, not football. A lot less games for things to straighten out. I agree I'd prefer it if there were not "official" polls until three weeks in.

A few years ago a perfect example of that would be Auburn, if I am remembering correctly in the pre season polls I think that they were down around 10 -12. Not sure but they were not in the top 5 to where they would have ahd a better shot at it. They go unbeaten and imo should have won the NC.

August 10, 200719 yr IMO boise state would have difficulty with the top tier teams in any major confrence this season, but I do give them credit for their year last year, the Oklahoma game was one of the best ive ever seen

The one put out today DOES matter, it matters a great deal if there are three undefeated teams coming down to the end of the season. The initial poll is probably the second MOST important poll of the season, it will dictate how close to the top you can hope to get.
