Not really because the region was pretty evenly average, and they got a dream first round draw!! They would have been mid-pack or lower in the 10th!!

 

You have got to be kidding me! Who in the 10th would bea them beside Mason, GRC or BB? I do not think that would have put them in the middle of the pack or bottom tier !

How will they do in the All "A" this year? I was very surprized at the early exit last year to an OK Paintsville team, after all the hype I'd heard about them.

 

The injuryto Ferguson & the fact it was probably the worst coaching performance of the year for the coaches all contributed to their early exit. I suppose coaches also can have really bad games.

Definately Scott, and probably teams like Campbell County, Montgomery County, Harrison County; along with Silver Grove and Pendleton on a given night IMO. Probably hard to tell since they didn't really play much of a schedule--Seems like they played the same 6-8 teams over and over (Raceland-3 times, Russell-3 times, E. Carter-4 times, W. Carter-3 times, etc.)??

I'll give you Scott maybe, but no way on any of the others. I will definitelty agree about the schedule hopefully they will improve it this year. I know all the teams well that you mentioned other than Silver Grove. Elliott Co, Russell, Ashland & possibly Rose Hill would have beaten them last year. You have to admit other than the top 3 the 10th was really weak last year.

Acutally, KY, they will have some size this year. They will have 6'7 freshman Timmy Knipp. He has really came along this summer despite a few injuries. They also have returning stater Jonathon Morgan, who is a 6'3 junior. They will have a big body in Dustin Gilliam, a 6'3 275lbs. junior who also has some varsity expierence. Gilliam is very athletic for his size.

I doubt if Timmy Knip is 6'7" and even if he is he doesnt really give them a legitimate inside presence due to his slight build, as for Gilliam, he gives them a potential banger, but not mobile enough to be on the floor for them very many minutes. Having said these things, however I do believe they have a very good team and have good enough guard play play to overcome a lot, but a team with very good guard play and a legitimate inside game, and there are a few teams with both in the state, will give them problems.

Scott gave BB and GRC all they wanted, so it might have been more of a big 4? PC was definitely off from recent years, but was still dangerous at times (see Brossart game). Campbell and Harrison were inconsistent but had some talent, but maybe I'm giving them too much credit. Montgomery built a monster record early against an embarrassing schedule for a school their size, but faded losing 4 of their last 5. SG was very good considering they have only about 80 boys in the school, and surprised some teams. I thought Elliott and Russell were above the rest, but the region was uncharacteristically weak from there IMO last year.

 

Agree with the schedule comments, as we know to be the best. you've got to play the best. It would really help them if they have high expectations. Other than Mason, the top teams in the 10th were devastated by graduation in '07, so this would be the year to schedule!!

No , but there probably is one. Timmy does need to bulk up some , but then again it may throw his shot off.

Timmy is 6'7 and he is just fine the way he is. Lets remember he just turned 15 a few months ago. Its hard to put on much weight when you grow like that.

I believe Elliott played as a group this summer in the State AAU. They looked pretty good to me. Definitely guard oriented with the Faulkners and Ferguson (although I know he is not technically a guard). They penetrate very well and play agressive physical defense on the ball which offset the inside disadvantage they may face against some bigger teams. (Worked against us!) They may trip up occasionally, but I would expect it won't be because of lack of intensity.
