spe690
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2954127 If this does end up happening, the Celtics will easily be one of the pre-season favorites to win the eastern conference. Pierce, Garnett, and Ray Allen gives them 3 all star's and a definite chance to win the east!
UKMustangFan
IMO, it gives them a real good chance to do more than just win the East....
Bandit29
WOW! They would be able to compete with anybody.
steelcurtain
3 all stars don't always equate to championships. Is there enough balls to go around for this team.

SvFan4life
^ Yeah just look at the Lakers who had Payton, Malone, Kobe, and Shaq. They were pretty bad!
spe690
^ Yeah just look at the Lakers who had Payton, Malone, Kobe, and Shaq. They were pretty bad! In all honesty, I believe that having Malone and GP hurt the Lakers more than helping them. Malone was WAY over the hill and GP still thought he was the a superstar caliber player and he seemed to clash with Phil Jackson. Playoff basketball is becoming all about team chemistry in the NBA. Just look at the Spurs and Pistons.

Just look at the Spurs and Pistons. That's what I'm saying. On paper the Lakers looked to have an all-star team, but they didn't play as a team and they didn't talk like a team and that's why they couldn't keep up with the Spurs. HammerTime
Garnett will find a way to make it work. All he cares about is winning. Peyton and Malone were terrible with the Lakers that's why that didn't work out.
ladiesbballcoach
^ Yeah just look at the Lakers who had Payton, Malone, Kobe, and Shaq. They were pretty bad! You mean the team that made it to the Finals before losing to the Pistons? You have a high standard of bad.

Garnett, Pierce, and Ray Allen are 3 GREAT players who haven't had success in the postseason and their windows for still being able to play at that high level are starting to close. I see these 3 guys meshing and bringing the Celtics back to being a contender.
5wide
3 all stars don't always equate to championships. Is there enough balls to go around for this team. I don't think that's really a problem with these three...Garnett has never been a selfish guy. In fact, he's been criticized at times for being too unselfish and not shooting enough. Ray Allen is a pure shooter and scorer, but again, I've never really heard him referred to as a ball hog. He's a team player. Pierce, of the three, is the closest to someone who might sulk if his shot attempts dropped, but I don't really get that impression from him either. He's just been on a team where he had to play that way...I don't think he'd have any trouble adjusting to sharing the ball with 2 other all-star caliber guys. I think all three of these guys have good attitudes and are team players. If this comes to fruition, I think the Celtics would be a favorite to win the Eastern Conference...I'm not quite ready to place them as a serious threat to win the whole thing, but it's possible. I think that might depend a lot on the coaching and how the rest of the roster comes together in support of the big trio. Anyone think Rajon Rondo is just a little excited about the possibility of running the show with this lineup? He could go from one the worst situations in the NBA to one of the best overnight. 5wide
He is included in the deal to Minnesota. I didn't see Rondo's name mentioned anywhere in that report... It's believed that the latest incarnation of the deal would have Boston adding Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair and multiple future draft picks to Jefferson and Ratliff in exchange for Garnett. It's also likely that other players would have to be added to the deal, since the salary-cap math involved would require both teams to account for Garnett's $6.75 million trade kicker. Did I miss something? Telfair, Green, Jefferson, Ratliff and multiple future draft picks...
spe690
He is included in the deal to Minnesota. Not according to what they are saying on ESPN. Rondo is the one part that Ainge doesn't want to include in the deal. Telfair and Gerald Green are for sure being sent if the deal goes through.
