I did not particularly think that hardball was criticizing anything. I think he was noting that since there were a lot of homeruns hit in the game, than there was probably a good chance that the game was played at Danville.

 

I had never been to Danville's field until this past weekend and I'll have to agree with maybe some of the statements that I have heard about playing there prior to this past weekend. I saw several homeruns hit last weekend, and I'll be honest I dont think that a single one would have been a homerun in about 95% of the fields that I have seen in high school.

 

With dimensions such as 300 down the lines, about 315-320 in the power alleys, and 337 in dead center, you should expect comments and perhaps criticism regarding the legitimacy of a lot of the homeruns that are hit at Danville. Everyone that I saw hit (and there were a bunch of them) would have been nothing more than just routine fly balls just about anywhere else.

You may be right. Maybe he wasn't criticizing the fields. It's just a dead horse that is beaten over and over by many others.

 

Legitimacy concerns... are you serious? I am told the field conforms to KHSAA standards for field size for Regional sites.

No porch for the state tourny, NASA has launched things there that has not cleared the fence. :D

Post 31, is a solid team and Shaw, is an impressive RHP. I like the intensity, this team and coaching staff has.

Early this summer, Paducah had a tendency to play to the level of their competition. They've won 22 of their last 26 games since late June, I believe.

 

Shaw has signed at Louisville. Paducah expects to have UK pitcher Clint Tilford back soon (he pitched in a college league this summer) and the hope is that Heath ace Daniel Webb can come back after breaking a foot in the high school state tournament.

 

Paducah is hosting the Mid-South Regional in a couple of weeks. With that deep of a pitching staff, Paducah could have a shot at getting back to the Legion World Series.

Actually, I like Danville's field. It is one of the nicer fields in the upper 12th region. However, I've always thought that it was a bit too small for high school baseball, and really too small for American Legion ball with college players and the like.

 

It's only my opinion, but I'm sure that the other legion teams agreed to play there, so it's not really an issue.

Post 76 defeated Shelbyville Post 37 tonight in a good ole good one. The temperature on the bank read 100 and the tempers were just as hot. Benches emptied and words were exchanged along with a few bumps and shoves.........................nothing brutal . Fans were even ejected from the park. After being down 5 - 1 after 3 innings the sixers scored 4 times in the fifth and four more in the top of the 9th to win 9 - 5. wow..............what a game!!!

Fyffe did throw for the sixers all 9, sixers play for championship sat at 6 in shelbyville.

 

State starts wed. at Boyd Co. with 4 games not sure what time sixers play but being the host team surely it will be an evening game.

This win puts them into the regional finals against the winner of the Shelbyville/Oldham Co. game. Still one more to go. They will still be playing in the state tournament , but winning the regional outright determines whom and when they will play in the state tournament.

Talk about a good win in a hostle enviroment, playing the host team and fans are outnumbered like 300-8 and they were vocal. A couple were extreme as they came to our side of the field and went to the dugout fence and wanted a piece of our coaching staff. When Shelbyville went ahead 5-1 and fans were really vocal, sixers bowed their neck and showed a lot of grit, they shut shelbyville down and started chipping away and got it done. Good win.
