July 26, 200719 yr http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=6142 Odell out for 2007. For the record, as a Bengals fan, I have no problem with this.
July 26, 200719 yr I do have a problem with it only if he did comply 100% with the guidelines set forth by the league.
July 26, 200719 yr I do have a problem with it only if he did comply 100% with the guidelines set forth by the league. Right, if you wanted to make it two years...make it two years...
July 26, 200719 yr No not at all. We have Odell back if he is reinstated and it looks like he will be and has his act together. That is a HUGE piece to our puzzle. A broken puzzle!
July 26, 200719 yr This is a bunch of bull. He did everything the league asked him to do. If they weren't going to reinstate him for complying, why only a 1 year suspension?
July 26, 200719 yr I do have a problem with it only if he did comply 100% with the guidelines set forth by the league.I agree. The NFL is wrong in this situation.
July 26, 200719 yr Author I do have a problem with it only if he did comply 100% with the guidelines set forth by the league. I completely understand what you're saying and if you look at it strictly from a Bengals standpoint, I agree. However, when I said that I have no problem with it, I was probably more referring to cleaning up the league as a whole. It sucks that it's a Bengals player that is being penalized but I like what Goodell is doing. I also don't think that having Odell was going to make or break the season this year and I'm still optimistic.

If they weren't going to reinstate him for complying, why only a 1 year suspension? The only thing I can think of is how do you know he did everything the league told him to do? His lawyer has been VERY public the last month saying he did, which leads me to believe that he probably didn't.
July 26, 200719 yr Does the Michael Vick situation play into Thurman being sent away for another year? Perhaps the NFL is "toughening up" on everyone else, just in case they don't send away Vick? Does that makes sense?!

Problem is, you can't have a league that gives a suspension, then gives rules for said suspension, and IF (Really big IF) the player(s) uphold to their end of the suspension...extend it and not reinstate. The NFL should uphold their end as well...
July 26, 200719 yr The only thing I can think of is how do you know he did everything the league told him to do? His lawyer has been VERY public the last month saying he did, which leads me to believe that he probably didn't. That what I was going off of. Everything I've heard is that he has complied with everything they asked. If he didn't, then he's an idiot, and doesn't deserve to be reinstated.
July 26, 200719 yr That what I was going off of. Everything I've heard is that he has complied with everything they asked. If he didn't, then he's an idiot, and doesn't deserve to be reinstated. It's the only logical conlusion...he had to have not done something.
July 26, 200719 yr He did everything the league asked him to do. We assume. Truthfully, how can anyone have an opinion on this until we know more information? IF he did everything they asked, and IMHO, that is a BIG IF, than I believe he got jobbed here. However, me thinks there is a lot more to the story than we know right now.
