Jeff Brantley: Coffey Chokes!

Featured Replies

Brantley: "You can't throw the ball with your right hand if your right hand is on your throat. You can't do both."

Sometimes, the truth hurts...

Todd Coffey gave up four runs and five hits without retiring a batter Saturday against the Marlins.

Back to the minors? With Reds employee Jeff Brantley -- one of the most incompetent broadcasters in the business -- calling Coffey a choker and then later reiterating it, it might be time for a change of scenery for the 27-year-old reliever. Otherwise, the Reds need to stand up for Coffey and fire the blowhard. Of course, they should do that anyway. We'd take Bobcat Goldthwait and Gilbert Gottfried in the booth over Thom Brennaman and Brantley.

Idiots.

Who doesn't think Coffey was juicing?

I would much rather have an announcer calling it the way it is as opposed to walking on egg shells and never being too critical.

Brantley isn't always right, but nobody is. You are going to fire anyone get rid of George and Chrissy, please.

The only thig that I can find wrong with someone saying "Coffey" chokes is this......Don't you ave to have some talent before they can say "you choked"?? I don't think that Coffey chokes, I just think that he is not worth a crap.:p

Chris and Thom sound good together. George, when he is interviewed, sounds very knowledgeable. They just don't go well together for some reason.

George and Chrissy have been around for a long time for a reason. They aren't COMPLETELY incompetent. Although for 3 hours a day they do come across like a 7 year old announcing a T-Ball game.

Chris plays off of Thom well. He needs someone who is blunt and succinct. He has a dry since of humor that works well with Brenneman.

...and Brantley should know.

.483 win percentage and 172 saves in 14 years...an avg of 12 per year.

Um, it's not like he was in the bullpen all 14 of those years.

And there were a couple of other nasty boys that got a few saves in that reds pen if I remember right.:creepy:

Your memory has failed you.

I loathe, the word "Choke", as it relates to sports....:madman:

I like Brantley - much better than I expected. However, I think he crossed the line a bit with this comment.
