NO CHEATING

This major league player doesn't need to worry about Tommy John Surgery, because he has no ulnar collateral ligament. He has been quoted as saying, "Doctors look at me and say I shouldn’t be able to turn a doorknob without feeling pain . . . ", yet he continues to pitch. Who is he?

Tim Wakefield?

No, I'm sure Wakefield has his. I think its that other knuckleballer for the Twins. Dickey?

Correct, sir!

I think I remember hearing that a long time ago. Maybe in the 70's.

Who is the only pitcher to win the Rookie of the year and Cy Young Award in the same season.

Fernando Valenzuela...

In that same type of question, who are the only 2 players to win AL MVP and Rookie of the Year in the same season?

(I'm pretty sure this is accurate still lol)

You guys combine for the correct answer. Ichiro and Freddy Lynn

Average Joes wins again- the current pitcher without the UCL is R.A. Dickey of the Twins.

I lived in Knoxville for about 4 1/2 years and with him being an ex-Vol the guys down there talked about him a lot. I couldn't remember if that was the ligament or not but they said he started throwing the knuckleball because his arm was messed up. I still probably wouldn't have guessed it if LCRW wouldn't have thrown Wakefield's name out there.

All in the same game? I'll say Johnny Lemaster

I heard Lemaster was spotted on the pitching mound not too long ago in West Liberty.

Here's an easy one. It was even the title of a baseball trivia book several years ago.

Who was Harry Steinfeldt?

I did a report on the "Tinkers to Evers to Chance" poem by Franklin Pierce Adams in a linguistics class in college. I know he was the 3rd baseman in the Cubs infield with the guys mentioned.
