CovCath 20 Beechwood 9 (6 innings)

Featured Replies

12 walks, 14 hits plus some errors: Way too many baserunners to allow for any team to expect to win.

Oh what a wonderful looking group of men at the CovCath vs. Beechwood game today. Sure glad their sons are in a lot better shape than the Dads are! Good job men......:D

I wonder how those wonderful CovCath Moms can top this?

CovCath Dads.....

Priceless.......

You let me know when the CovCath mom's plan to "top" this so that I can make sure I'm there. :D

Is Maile #30, front right side on the picture?

Yes.

How come Mr. Bleser's "O" is so much bigger then Mr. Larkin's "O" ? LOL

Bleser has more spirit.;)

Blesser's is capitalized. While Larkin's is lower case.

Can't wait to see Blesser up at Champions. I'am bringing a can of blue spray paint.

Next year Cov Cath should be real good, Beechwood solid, and I like Ryle's sophmore class (JV Regional Champs) that will be coming up. I believe they have a few real good pitchers on that squad. Plus you will always have at least one other school from the area that will jump in the picture.

A lot of runs. Sometimes, good hitting beats good pitching.

Yes.

Dead ringer for another CovCath superstar, Sam Flynn.

I will take 8 starters coming back over 4. It is easier to replace one OF vs. a 1B, 2B, 3B, 2 OF and also lose a starting pitcher, 6 key players will graduate.

Agree, Ryle had a nice JV team. They will be in the same boat as BHS is this yr, alot gone to graduation w/alot of talented soph coming up. It is hard to compete against older, mature players that are experienced at the V level. There is alot of good young talent in NKY but they have not yet reached their full potential. Another, couple of yrs in the wt room, work hard in the fundamentals and keep learning and getting better, these young pups who got V experience this yr will make a big impact in a few yrs.

Fathers, don't read into this. I am not saying older is better! At the smaller schools more than some of the bigger schools, the younger players look to have more baseball knowledge and understanding of the game than some of the older players due to their participation in summer ball.

CCH returns the following from this year's varsity (those who played a lot):

Maile

Darner

Holocher

Nutini

Isler

Add in the following SOPHS who played some varsity this year:

Shover

Sainola

LeFever

Hartman

Add in Pat Van Sant as well.

Key losses: Bleser, Popham, Stein, Matt Reiss(sp?), Larkin

IMO they will be the favorite for the next 2 seasons.

As I stated earlier Cov Cath will be the favorite next year. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe Beechwood was even younger this year than Ryle will be next season (Ryle will have 6 returning Juniors from this years team and almost a dozen talented kids from this years JV Championship team (with legitimate pitching). The way things are shaping up Cov Cath and Ryle could both be State contenders in two years if their stellar sophmores keep getting better as they mature?

Great list of kids coming back. Let me rephrase some of my comments. 8 everyday starters, not played alot! I would assume Isler played 1B when Josh Blesser pitched and otherwise was DH. Nutini started against BHS in RF the first game.

CCH basically loses their starting infield and 2 key pitchers. Unfortunately, we have to wait and see how things work out.

The way CCH hits the ball, they are my favorite to win the region. They put the ball in play forcing the other team to make the mistake and that is the key to HS baseball, IMO. They will hit who ever they face in this region and I will take that to the bank!!
