BlueChip Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 I heard about 10 minutes ago that Coach Schlarman is leaving for Troy Ohio. How do they find a coach this late and where?
**evillive** Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 I heard about 10 minutes ago that Coach Schlarman is leaving for Troy Ohio. How do they find a coach this late and where? I'd say Nate Roedig would probably be the logically choice if this is true.
NHS BIG DADDY Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 I've heard this also within the past half hour. Supposively he told the team today. Tough break for Newport, he was very good and had the program doing well.
Freebird23 Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Very unfortunate! I think John and his top-notch staff would have made continuous improvement at Newport. I would love to have seen Newport get deep into the playoffs this year. Good luck John! Best of luck to Newport in their efforts to find another fine role model for the athletes...
Blackshirts Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Newport will be all right with the talent up there.
The Galloping Ghost Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Yeah....but will they be able to get a quality coach this late?
All Play No Work Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 It's not the best time but how bad is it? Spring football is over, the dead period is a little over a month away and then time to get busy in July. That leaves almost two months to find a replacement before practice starts and that should be plenty.
NHS BIG DADDY Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 They will still be gettin a late start. They dont break out the pads til august but in June teams get a lot of work in also before the dead period.
strongopenyon Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 This is a great opportunity for John. It is another Tony Franklin connection in that there was a relationship at UK and now that Tony is at Troy State, he has found an outstanding young coach in John Schlarman.
Sportskid Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 John was a great coach for the Wildcats. He will be miss as well as his family. He did great things for them in such a short time. GOOD LUCK at Troy coach. Now the search for a new coach. Who will be ready to make the move?
Henry521 Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 What will he be coaching at Troy? And don't anyone get smart and say football. I want to know if he will be O cordinator or D cordinator or anything else.
Sportskid Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 He will be working with the offensive line. Troy State is a division I school.
Henry521 Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 He will be working with the offensive line. Troy State is a division I school. Thanks. I'm happy for John and I'm sure he is sad to leave Newport, but he is young and sees a great opportunity for him and his family. All the best to him.
