Is Coach Schlarman out at Newport?

I heard about 10 minutes ago that Coach Schlarman is leaving for Troy Ohio. How do they find a coach this late and where?

I've heard this also within the past half hour. Supposively he told the team today.

 

Tough break for Newport, he was very good and had the program doing well.

Very unfortunate! I think John and his top-notch staff would have made continuous improvement at Newport. I would love to have seen Newport get deep into the playoffs this year. Good luck John! Best of luck to Newport in their efforts to find another fine role model for the athletes...

Spring football is over, the dead period is a little over a month away and then time to get busy in July.

 

That leaves almost two months to find a replacement before practice starts and that should be plenty.

They will still be gettin a late start. They dont break out the pads til august but in June teams get a lot of work in also before the dead period.

This is a great opportunity for John. It is another Tony Franklin connection in that there was a relationship at UK and now that Tony is at Troy State, he has found an outstanding young coach in John Schlarman.

John was a great coach for the Wildcats. He will be miss as well as his family. He did great things for them in such a short time. GOOD LUCK at Troy coach. Now the search for a new coach. Who will be ready to make the move?
