He will be the o-line coach. Coach Franklin had offered the job to Coach Garry McPeek, but he turned it down.

I agree with Blackshirts, since Roy Lucas took over in '95, there has been an actual standard set for any incoming head coach at Newport. Schlarman had more than filled the bill along with Goetz whom he proceeded. With the talent the school has drawn out the past 12 years, it should be no problem for Newport to be competitive. Good Luck to Coach Schlarman and good luck to their new coach!

Matt Moore was the offensive line coach at Troy University this past season, but has taken the O-Line job at Texas Tech with a hefty pay increase. John will do well at Troy as he played and coached at UK and helped Guy Morris at Baylor before going to Newport. John knows the vertical set passing game that Tony likes to use. Once he adjusts to Tony's offense I believe he will have them rolling.
