May 10, 200719 yr How long ago was this...and does anyone really care?Last year before the UofL UK football game, and yes.

May 10, 200719 yr I care, it was a stupid thing to say and I'm embarrassed for Mr Todd. I hope he enjoys the taste of shoe leather.
May 10, 200719 yr UK, at No. 27, ranks ahead of No. 36 U of L in the Sears Directors Cup standings, which rank programs on a cumulative score of their 10 best NCAA finishes. When you spend $21 million more, you'd better rank higher. Ah, a moral victory? Is that what that is? Is that making an excuse for the difference in the rankings? If you're going to write an article re-ripping Lee Todd's ignorant statement, I'd suggest you at least be ahead of them in athletic dept. rankings. Just my 2 cents.
May 10, 200719 yr Here is the thing. It was not an intelligent comment to make by Todd. I dont know if he actually believed all that he was saying about UL when he said it. As I recall he really poured fuel on UL's fire when it came to football. I think he was saying things to kindof fuel the rivalry some without thinking of the motivation he gave UL. Now what I dont really agree with is the UK ranked 25th and UL ranked 36th, and its all because UL spends 21 milliion bucks less. I think that is an excuse. I am sure there are teams that spend much more than UK and UL. If UL ends up passing UK then they have had a better year, if not UK has had a better year.
May 10, 200719 yr The article came out yesterday. I understand that, but this was said over a year ago...why is it still news?
May 10, 200719 yr I understand that, but this was said over a year ago...why is it still news? Slow day at the Louisville CJ apparently.
May 10, 200719 yr I honestly feel that U of L has probably one of the top 5 Athletic Directors in the country. The guy gets it done and it shows with the coaches he hires and the success of his teams.

Only thanks to the womens Rifle team's fourth place finish which got UK the same number of points as a men's final four apperance. Louisville doesn't have a womens rifle team. Otherwise Louisville would have been about four slots ahead of UK. FWIW. I mean honestly I think using the Sears cup as a standard is foolish anyway, most the schools that have it have waterpolo, and other sports most schools do not have. The main thing is the statement that Louisville is overmarketed and underpreforms and at the time he was talking about football, and Louisville has done quite well in that arena.

I think it shows how stupid the article is. I understand Crawford's point about what President Todd said not being a very smart statement, but using the Sears cup where UL is 11 spots behind UK is not helping to prove his point. Pretty poor article if you ask me.
May 10, 200719 yr I guess it all depends on whether you're looking thru blue glasses or red. As was stated it's a slow day for sports.
