Top WR's this year in '07

Featured Replies

Daviess County's Scotty Smith had 59 receptions for 987 yards and 6 TD's in just 10 games. He would have to be one of the top WR's returning in 07.

Hunter Adams from Middlesboro would have to one of the top WR'S returning for 07.

Kevin Brinkman. Excellent athlete. Good Football lineage. I predict a top 10 finish for this kid if he stays focused and injury free.

With me being a Cov. Holy Cross fan I have to think that Jeff West will have a good year. He was the go to guy across the middle last yr. when they needed a 1st down. He has good hands and above avg. speed.

Although for years he believed it was better to "give" than "recieve" ... Jay "Sparky" Draper of HHS should put up some big numbers for the Birds.

So could Drew Simons...IF they give him enough time on the "O" side of the ball!

Does Highlands have the QB to throw it to him consistently.

John Cole's 86 receptions for 1,848 yards and 29 TD's is not too shabby! But Lexington Henry Clay's Aaron Boyd with 40 receptions for 730 yards and five TD's gets my #1 vote... Henry Clay just plays at another level than Somerset football. D.L. Moore gets my vote for second. I had an opportunity to watch D.L. last year and his speed and heigth make him a work in progress for the next level. I think D.L. needs to add a little weight and work on the hands and he should be all set. I am looking for all three to have a great 2007 campaign for their respective schools.

I don't care what level Cole plays at, he is legit. He would start for any team in the state easily.

First name that comes to mind is...........Aaron Boyd, Henry Clay

I saw him today at the u of l tourney. Man among boys.

Gee - I thought the question was, " Who can't be covered by any one man on the KHSAA level?" The ability to start for any team in the state is not exactly the same as being the #1 receiver in the state... perhaps I misunderstood the thread.:fight:

Regardless of what the question was, John Cole is the best receiver in the state.

Silver Streaker.....Cole not only can start for every team in the state he would still be first team All-State at any class. IMHO there is not any one DB in KY that could consistantly cover him for a game. Speed, Great Routes, Great Hands, Jumping Ability and very very savy.

Deron Hicks From Franklin County stood out at the U of L 7on7 Yesterday I think he will have a good year.

John Cole had to be doubled covered on basically every play. His speed is second to none, his hands are like glue, his routes are ran as if he was on a rail, he can out jump almost everyone. O yea and his stats we're the best the state has ever seen and that was as a Jr. so I see no reason why he shouldn't be the best reciever next year.

May be that he can't be covered by two men.....no one was able to last year.

I beg to differ...Harlan's Michael Bianchi (kicker) held the talented Mr. Cole to around 20 receiving yards in Harlan and Somerset's first game this past season. And I believe the second game held him under 40. There's a funny story that goes along with this I suppose I'll share (not to poke fun at Somerset or John Cole...because everybody knows he's one of the most talented receivers Eastern Kentucky's ever had.) But it was late in the first game, and emotions were flaring, and Mr. Bianchi said something that must have pushed Mr. Cole's buttons and Cole proceeded to say to Bianchi: "I run a 4.4 forty! What do you run?" and Michael cleverly responded: "Buddy I don't know, I'm just the kicker." Cole walked away with his head hung...and YES before someone from Somerset replies...YOU ALL WON! Congradulations! Good luck in class AAA, we wish you all well!

I wish John Cole and the rest of the Briar Jumpers the best of luck this year. :jump: I have heard nothing but the best of this young man. It will be interesting to track the top 3 receivers in the state ... D.L. Moore, John Cole and Aaron Boyd. I am confident the remaining WRs will be busting tail this Fall to take the top honor. Like I mentioned earlier, it will fun to track these gifted athletes.
