May 7, 200719 yr I know, as a UK fan, most feel the 96 team was the most talented UK team ever, although, they weren't without fault...They had tendencies to sleepwalk through some games...They usually played there best against the best competition and to me, thats what made them special... This may also be one of ULs most talented teams and if they happen to win a NC next year, then this may be a better discussion topic ..
May 7, 200719 yr Even if they do happen to win the national champipnship there is NO WAY that Louisville is even close to the 96 team..The 96 team is easily a top 3 team EVER...I dont think Louisville is even close to Florida this year and there not even in the top 10 for the best teams ever!
May 7, 200719 yr The MOP of the 1998 championship team was redshirted in 96 because there was no playing time available. I also read on the UL thread that they have someone too athletic for us to match up with did we not have Derrick Anderson and Ron Mercer I about fell out of my chair laughing when I read that.
May 7, 200719 yr UL is my team but im going to be honest, the 96 team would beat us by as much as they wanted. I was actually cheering for U of L that season, but that '96 team could've advanced in the NBA playoffs that year! LOL.
May 7, 200719 yr It's ridiculous to compare them in the sense that the start of the '08 season is several months away...we don't know anything about the '08 Cardinals other than having a pretty good idea of what the roster will look like and who the coach will be.
May 7, 200719 yr Author Here are the players on the 1996 team that played in the NBA: First Round- Tony Delk- 16th to Hornets Antoine Walker- 6th to Celtics Walter McCarty- 19th to Knicks Ron Mercer- 6th ('97) to Celtics Derek Anderson- 13th to Cavs Nazr Mohommed- 29th to Jazz Second Round Mark Pope- 52nd to Indiana We also had these players make NBA rosters: Wayne Turner, Jeff Shephard I am pretty sure that Epps and Edwards played pro somewhere just not in the NBA. This doesn't include NBA player (first rounder) Scott Padgett who was not active that year due to academic reasons... http://www.bigbluehistory.net/bb/1995-96.html If '08 Louisville can produce 9 NBA PLAYERS then they are better....

We get the point. Perhaps you should have started a '96 UK team tribute thread???
May 7, 200719 yr ^Perhaps he is just trying to prove a point about how good the 96 team was, that is basically what this thread is about...
May 7, 200719 yr ^Perhaps he is just trying to prove a point about how good the 96 team was, that is basically what this thread is about... Comparing to the '08 UL team. Compare it to someone who has the credentials. Waste of time...
May 7, 200719 yr Comparing to the '08 UL team. Compare it to someone who has the credentials. Waste of time... Read the thread title. UK 1996 vs UofL 2008....that's what his post was all about...why would you rather he stray from the topic at hand and discuss a team other than 2008 UofL?
May 7, 200719 yr Comparing to the '08 UL team. Compare it to someone who has the credentials. Waste of time... May be but that was the title of this thread.
May 8, 200719 yr ^Perhaps he is just trying to prove a point about how good the 96 team was, that is basically what this thread is about...Prove it to WHOM? We all agree, here. He's writing to convince some guy that never reads this forum and was roundly disagreed with on the forum he does read (minus one or two unfortunate souls.) I am going to keep this thread in mind the next time I run across something truly insane on TCP. At least, more insane than usual.
