History and Tradition matter, no one has ever said otherwise, but it isn't the end all be all that it was say 25 years ago...

Every time a kid mentions it in an interveiw. :D

It is not the fact that History and Tradition matter. It is the fact that posters on here have said in past threads that todays players don't know about UKs history and tradition or care. IMO, Kids that know basketball know all the big name teams history and tradition.

You are 100 percent correct. :thumb:

:sssh: ;)Don't get the basher started. They only want to believe in the time frame they see fit for their purposes when it comes to UK.:D

Well I am one of the biggest UK fans there is, but I am not a basher, but I do agree with 02Ram and GT and all the guys you and my fellow UK fans have been getting on them for. Their point is that its not the same as it use to be for UK, and doesn't matter as much these days, and the are COMPLETELY RIGHT! And well I dont agree that all kids that know basketball knows the teams history. I bet the majority wouldn't know how many NCAA titles we have, or all the coaches we have had. They just know we are known for basketball and get national coverate and thats it for most of them IMO...

No one has ever said that the players don't care about UK's history or tradition. They don't mean near as much as they used to.

Now a days, you cannot start three guards. I think that you need a true small forward that can rebound and shoot the 3 well. You look at most of the great teams like Florida and you see a guy in the small forward spot that is over 6'7'' which creates matchup problems for the other team. I like what Billy G is doing in finding a true small forward like Singleton.

Villanova started 4 guards and was successful. You do not have a 1-5, if the players can play they will find a way to win.

You named one team that has been successful with it, and that team still didn't make the final four, and as we seen with Tubby elite 8's will not cut it..So pointing out one team in the history of basketball that has done pretty good with the 4 guards is a very small percentage and something that usually does not work...

Has anybody else tried it?

Did Arkansas win with big nasty in the middle and 4 guards?

Exactly what I was going to say. Here at Kentucky, success is measured with national championships not elite eights.

UT has been the clear leader for a while so UK has made up a ton of ground in a very short time...

If I had to guess his top 3 right now, in order, is UK, UT and UC...
