U.S. The Most Dangerous Country On Earth?

Featured Replies

Gee, lets be more like France so we don't upset a bunch of effete emasculated Euro-wienie quitters...

Our country's problem is less a matter of guns and bullets than it is a growing vaccuum of sound spiritual grounding and solid morals.

But hey, we've kicked God out of our schools and public places and taught our children it's okay to kill unborn children because they are inconvenient... so maybe our Euro-wussie friends can admire that.

I personally enjoy the title as "Most Dangerous" but if we listen to these clowns, we won't be for long... which is exactly what they want.

France is your argument!

Let me ask you this. Would you rather live here, or France?

Thanks for giving me such a great opening, everybody!:D

Of COURSE France is my example, for exactly the reasons Fastbreak brings up.

What is the most secular country on the planet? What country has the least God in the class room?

It's France.

So if how can you say our problem isn't gun violence but instead 'a growing vacuum of sound spiritual grounding and solid morals' when the country which epitomizes that stance is a country with less than half our murder rate?

America is a GREAT country. I believe I've said in countless threads that if you were born here, you're one of the luckiest people on the planet.

To pretend that our access to guns (and our cultural obsession with them) doesn't have something to do with us looking like a third-world country on this issue, that's your business. But I think that a REASONED conversation is overdue on the topic.

And you guys are, whether you know it or not, going after a guy on the NRA mailling list.:sssh:

I don't think we should get rid of guns. I own a gun. My dad has an arsenal that is a lot of fun to shoot. And I think the second ammendment would be a vital part of keeping our country looking like America if we were to run into a serious constitutional crisis. But to pretend that this doesn't come with a price, when I think the price is laid out pretty obviously in that list, is just burying our heads in the sand.

Excellent post!!! Way to go Fastbreak!:ylsuper:

I don't need Europe's approval...especially their journalists.

As I stated, black on black crime is the largest reason for the crime rate we have in this country. But hey, lets blame the guns for being misused by inner-city thugs.

France, by the way, is a country of the chicken hearted. They will be a Muslim country before they know it, and they won't have the guts to try to stop it.

I will disagree with you here. They're a borderline racist country bent on isolating and suppressing their Muslim population. Rather than integrating them into their society, it is breeding a more militant Muslim population, which would be how they would lose their country.

And this is a good example of why we shouldn't compare ourselves to other countries. We are a different country and a different culture, we shouldn't strive to be like the Europeans just because they have more stringent gun laws.

That's what I'm talking about. They'll be overrun, homicide bombing will ensue, and the French will bring out the white flag and surrender. It’s what they’re best at.

No they won't, they'll call us...

 Good point.
Here's the real troubling part. The victim rates for whites was 3.3 per 100,000. For blacks it was 19.7. Others was 2.4. The offender rate is even worse. For whites its 3.6, blacks 24.1 and other 2.7.

The good news is that murder rates are down across racial lines. Rates have dropped by over half for blacks from their highs in 1991. If the trend continues, we should drop on those world charts over the next 10 years.

The problem is that coverage seems to have been heightened over the last 10-15 years. While the number of murders by gun are actually dropping, each time a gun is used in a "mass killing" of two or three people the media makes a much larger story about it than it would have in the past.

After the tragedy at Virginia Tech, many European newspapers are blaming the gun culture in the U.S. which they call the most dangerous country on earth.

The U.S. is the most multi-cultural nation on earth. Sometimes cultures clash and violence ensues. I'm sure our multi-cultural mix of peoples from all corners of the globe has quite an impact on the level of violence experienced in the U.S.

France is your argument!

Are you saying that because someone would rather live in the US...that makes the US safer?

The media makes every homicide a huge story. Homicides are covered probably more than any other crime on the news, yet out of the major crimes I believe they are the least occuring.

I'm saying you have the option to protect yourself in this country. I'm also saying this country is so much better than France in so many ways. You disagree?

There are 192 nations in the UN and only 62 on the list provided in the link. Data for two-thirds of the countries is missing.

Handguns are illegal in Russia and yet they are ranked #5. The solution to the problem isn't as simple as stricter gun control laws.
