I think Walls will do a fine job on that kid. I'm sure he wont shut him down, but he will not score at will either. If its a case of quickness though, I'm sure that Knowles can be put on the Gordon kid to help that out and Walls can move over to another perimeter player. The point on O doesnt have to be on the point on D ya know.

So then why do they have a tryout. They basically tried out all year from what your saying. The team should get picked by who plays well at the tryout. Last i checked most of the kids at the tryouts were atleast top 50 in the state.

 

What I meant was that if they keep 13 kids on the team, the first 6-8 players are basically already chosen by reputation, college choice, etc. The final 5-7 spots are available for the tryout and those spots should be given to the best players from the tryout.

 

But if you're saying, for example, that Ty Proffitt shouldn't make the team because he had a bad night at Georgetown College when clearly he's a nice player and he's going to Notre Dame, then that's ridiculous. The tryout is necessary to decide some players, but many of them are already on the team and rightfully so.

 

Also, its a pretty nice honor to say you were invited to try out for the Kentucky all-star team.

You have to be a senior to tryout for the team. I think Stepp is a junior.

Jeff Brooks at 6'8 and a 7'0 wing span would have helped if he had tried out.

Everyone on the list is well deserving and I wouldn't have a problem with any of them being in the starting 5 over Hill or Rice, as long as they worked harder and proved themselves. :thumb:

This is actually huge for NKy, Holmes specifically. I hope Rice can play above the rim like he did in the state tourney because they don't have a lot of size.

 

Agreed. Holmes being the only school to have two representatives speaks a lot about how talented and how hard these two young men have worked .
