I also heard from a little birdie that a certain number 14 at Scott County is very interested to see what Billy G brings to the table and would consider UK if he came after him pretty hard.

There is one more factor involved as well.

I heard Pettigrew gave UK an ultimatum. Either offer by Thursday or he will go somewhere else.

Is he good enough to be throwing out ultimatums to a program like UK?

Maybe it was a request? Just letting UK know that he would like to know by then, and if not then he will have to take up another offer.

Boy the swagger and cockiness is back in the Uk fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe ultimatum is too strong of a word. I think he is going to wait until Thursday on UK and if UK does not offer him he would probably go ahead and sign with Xavier.

That would probably be the best for him.

What does that say about Kentucky basketball, if our own states "MR. BASKETBALL", is not "A FIT" for a premier basketball program like the University of Kentucky? Is that a slap in the face against the states basketball players or what? How many Mr. Basketball's have we let go to other programs because certain people say they can't play here or aren't a good fit for us? It always seems to come back and bite us in the butt, if they are good enough to get the title of Mr. Basketball, they should be good enough to play at UK. Maybe not right off the bat, but definitely in a year or 2.

Some years yes, some years no, Pettigrew is 6'5 post player. He dominated on the HS level but do you really think he can be a good player at UK. Last year, Walt Allen, was a good HS player but there is no way he could have played at UK.

Mr. Basketball is for the best HS player that does not neccessarily translate into college success.

Just like the Heisman Trophy does not get you drafted in the NFL.

The argument definitly goes both ways. Hey I am a huge fan of Kentucky high school basketball. But Stockton and Carrier never panned out. I think Tubby just didnt do a good job evaluating which players he should have taken in state. I believe Gilispie will do a better job. I also believe that will pay dividends, as far as in-state guys maybe this year and almost certainly next year.

I still think that Carrier wasn't even close to being the best high school player on his team at BG, yet somehow he received a scholarship from UK.

Anyway, I agree that being Mr. basketball doesn't mean you deserve a scholarship. But I think Mr. Pettigrew might have a better stroke than people give him credit for. At the all-star game he, Ty Profitt, Mike Williams, and A.J. Sterwart recently attended, along with other highly touted stars, it was Pettigrew who won the 3-Point Shooting competition.:sssh:

I am not saying Pettigrew isn't deserving of a scholarship. I am just disputing the idea that Mr. Basketball is automatically deserving of a full ride to UK to play basketball.

Also a lot of players who are better in high school do not have the college potential as some other guys.

As for Pettigrew winning the 3 point contest, that is impressive for him, but at the same time it does not make him a great shooter. Obviously being able to hit them in games is what matters.
