April 15, 200719 yr Not including the Daisy lever action BB gun or the Crossman pump pellet gun, it would have to be the old Marlin 22 rimfire rifle.
April 15, 200719 yr My first gun was a Remington 243 youth modified at the age of twelve. This after I had already been brought up on a 22 mag, and a four-ten. The 243 was the first actually gun bought and given to actually be mine only, while around the same time my father gave me the other two mentioned. Now.....at age 19 (soon to be 20) I personally own, other than those mentioned above Remington 270 Winchester 1100 12-Guage Thompson Center Arms Encore Ruger 30-06 9-mil meter handgun, Glock (although I am still waiting untill 21 to get my concealed weapons permit on it.) Some of these are still handed down from my father who buys and collects his guns like he does buying new golf clubs (he does both a lot) However, the next and about the only thing left on my wishlist is a 7mm of somesort. I know its a lot of bang, but IMO is the ultimate deer rifle.

April 16, 200719 yr When my great grandfather died I got his Winchester single shot 20 gauge. He had painted it black. So when I striped the stock and refinished it. I have yet to get the barrel and receiver refinished but plan on it one of these day.
April 16, 200719 yr I appreciate all the tips on here. I'm fired up about getting started. Good luck. If you have any other question, feel free to ask, I will try to help as will many others.
April 16, 200719 yr H&R Topper 20 guage. Lost it and was as heartsick as I can remember. Oh, well, there are alot of thing I "misplaced" when I was in college.:walk:
April 16, 200719 yr Mosin-Nagant 7.62x54R I love it. The bolt on mine takes a body-builder to operate...!
April 16, 200719 yr The bolt on mine takes a body-builder to operate...! Takes a whole lot of practice, needs to be one swift motion. Also everytime I clean the gun I disassemble the bolt and clean each part of it then oil it up and wrap it in a cloth until I use it next. I never leave the bolt in the gun unless I am at the range. Not worth the risk at home with one that powerful.
April 16, 200719 yr My first gun was a gun handed down to me by my dad who taught and instilled in me the love of the outdoors, hunting and fishing. The Gun was/is an L.C. Smith 16ga. double barrell (one barrell full choke, one mod.). I still have and shoot the gun when and if I get a chance to go squirrell hunting. Have not found anything that I could shoot better than that gun . I guess that is bc it was the gun that I started on and shot (still do) for years. I also have my dads Remington model 11 (made off the Browning patent) 12ga. in an improved cylinder, that is my rabbit and bird gun. I also had a savage 22 cal. bolt action rifle that was handed down to me by my dad, that was the gun that I really learned how to shoot with. I didn't mean to go on if some think that I did, just get emotional when thinking about those guns and times hunting with my dad, I miss him. By the way, cvillecat can tell you about many trips "busting those squackers" - me with that L.C. double barrell and him with his model 37 ithica, also in a 16ga..
April 16, 200719 yr Browning "Sweet 16" shotgun. I am jealous, that is a gun that I have always wanted firebird, imo a person cannot beat a browning A-5 . One of if not the best guns ever made - JMO. I love a 16ga. and would love to run across a "sweet 16" browning A-5 one of these days (and be able to afford it, they are a bit expensive  )
April 16, 200719 yr My first gun was a 16 gauge single-shot Winchester. My father gave it to me, along with a 20 gauge Springfield. Both were stolen from my house about 8 years ago when a thief caught me gone golfing and broke my bedroom window out and stole my guns. It was a big loss to me for sentimental reasons. Sorry about your loss, we do become attached to weapons handed down from past generations. My first gun was also a 16 ga. Winchester single shot given to me by my brother on my 16th birthday. It was used when he acquired it and I've had it more than 35 years now. In fact, one of my sons will use it this weekend to turkey hunt. I also have a 12 ga. Winchester pump bought new around 1975, an old Marlin .22 I bought used sometime in the '70s, two 30-30 lever action Winchesters (one of which was given to me by my father in law and had been owned by his father. I believe it's close to 100 years old now.) I would be heart broken to lose any of these.
