A thread was started on here April 7 about the coincidences of UK hiring Billy Gillispie. Three days later, Mark Story had a column in the Lexington Herald Leader about pretty much the same thing.

On Thursday, the question was asked on BGP whether Tubby should be sent to the rafters at Rupp.

Three days later, Mark Story has a column saying Tubby DOES belong in the rafters at Rupp.

I'm sure the higher ups at BGP will agree when I say it's great to have you as a reader Mark! :thumb:

I'd bet BGP is a much more influencial site for the media than many think. After all, since it's a pay site, and since we have actual rules to abide by, sports is taken more seriously here.

I don't know how influencial BGP is for the media but I do know and believe that this site and it's members are by far the the best I have read. I have looked at other sites of this type and there is no comparison. BGP is #1 by far. We (bgp members) will argue :argue: over various topics and we all have our favorite teams and athletes. Imo all that one has to do to prove my point is to look through the General Discussion forum and go throught the various "prayers needed" threads and the like. BGP members care about people and band together on the things that really matter. This site is all class. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: 5 thumbs up to BGP, from Guru to all the Mods and administrators to the members!

I wrote a letter to the Herald a few years ago about Ricky P saying "beating" Ky was "just another game" to him. The next year Rick had said when he beat Ky it was "the greatest game of his life". It was never published but I asked in my letter if it was better than winning the national title and the final fours. I also pointed out the contradiction. Two or three weeks later, one of the sportswriters brought this up in a story from my unprinted article. The game and the quote from Rick occurred over a year earlier but my article was submitted just weeks before the Herald story. Wonder what sparked the quote? I always suspected my letter but who knows. Now, maybe I can take some credit for the input.

I would bet money that more than one sports writer has used this site as an idea for a article.

We have finally learned your true identity, UKPat02 is really Pete Rose  ! The "I will bet statement" gave you away. :p :sssh:

Good point atticus, it sure seems like it may have. Of course a writer/media member (no disrespect to any bgp members that may be writers or media members ;) , I was talking as a whole) would never give anyone other than themselves any credit for it :D .

I wonder if the GURU has ever thought of extending his sites to other states ? Could be some nice income in that...

Do other states have sites like BGP ? Sites that actually have rules ?

It could have been a coincidence but the quote occurred in the "Sportsmen of the Year" segment and I thought if he was going to mention the contradiction it should have occurred after the game and the quote a year earlier. Whether it did or not occur because of me, I choose to believe it did because men of irrelevance and unimportance in the sports world like myself like to be quoted. lol

I made a sarcastic post on here a few months ago about Ramon Harris only playing 22 seconds or something. Of course, I picked up the Herald Leader the next day and there was something in there about "wouldn't you know that at least one fan in the state posted on a message board... Ramon Harris 22 seconds..." I knew deep down that I was that "one fan"!

I look at it like this, if you write about KY Sports BGP is a great resource. With that said, many sportswriters are members here. Some of them post messages, some don't. My only beef is the sportswriters that use BGP for leads but then run us/The Net down in general. Oh well, free world.

On the other topic, no, I will not be starting any forums in any other states. KY is my home and BGP is already a full time job.

As for some other sites try these:
