nyrangers Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Now that the teams have the fast pitch games out of the way tell me about the slow pitch teams. Who are the best?
futurecoach Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I would say that Lloyd would be one of the top teams, as always! I know they have a girl who played for Ludlow last year who is now a freshman and starts 2nd base for Lloyd in Jessica Beck. She is just a great all around player, and will have a great career there!
nyrangers Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 Dayton looked good in a victory over Bellevue.
shsbballmom Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Scott High School has a good slow pitch softball team.
Camel Fan Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Lloyd is ranked number one in the Enquire and Scott tied for two. I think Campbell should be a real comptetitor. They started out 4-0 and play Scott Friday.
Camel Fan Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Campbell beat Scott tonight 5-3. It was a close game with the Eagles leading 2-0 coming into the third but the camels came back.
greendevil Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Dayton looked good in a victory over Bellevue. Dayton has a really good slow pitch team to go along with a bunch of clowns for parents that are ruining it for the kids:fight:
ColonelNation32 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I think it is really dumb to have slow pitch because you cant play slow pitch in college and there is only like 10 teams in kentucky that do. Thats very easy to win state with 10 teams in the league
nyrangers Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 I did notice a fiight between a Dayton parent and a coach after the game.
nyrangers Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 I don't think having "slow pitch" is dumb at all. Quite frankly it is another option for kids. All options for participation for kids shouldn't be considered dumb.
greendevil Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Dayton looked good in a victory over Bellevue. Dayton has had a fairly good slow pitch team for about the past decade with a lot of top 4 and 5 state finishes... just can never seem to edge the Holy Crosses, Campbell Counties, and Lloyds...
Andtheheadcoach Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 I think it is really dumb to have slow pitch because you cant play slow pitch in college and there is only like 10 teams in kentucky that do. Thats very easy to win state with 10 teams in the league Sorry you feel that way, but no matter what, kids need something to participate in. Augusta's players found out that they were going all fast pitch next season, and they all quit the team. I think this will happen to some of these smaller schools. As far as not playing in college, Lloyd had a player by the name of Beth Fields that played slow pitch in high school, walked on to Thomas More's fast pitch team in college, and belted a homerun her first at bat. :thumb:
bulldog77 Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 You know, when did high school sports become solely about the elite level players? When did a college scholarship become the sole criteria over whether a sport, or player for that matter, was worthy of participation? Sports is about competition, physical challenges, mental preparation, teamwork, learning all of those skills and then some. Yes, the best do go on to another level and that is wonderful, but how dare we forget about the vast, vast majority who play for the love of the game!! Slow pitch does and always should have a place in high school sports for those who want to play it just like the last 3 or 4 golfers on the schools golf team should have a place to play. They're not going to win many scholarships either (exceptions at places like CCH and St. X noted). If we CAN field a team and players WANT to comnpete then by all means provide that opportunity!!
stickymitts Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 What kind of mess would this create if a child wants to transfer to a fastpitch school? If the KHSAA says no, could they have a lawsuit on their hands?
bulldog77 Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 I see your point but hpw does this differ from a school that doesn't have football, or soccer, or golf?
