The second half was nasty for the Kentucky team. I left when Terry and Gray were taken out with about four minutes left and Ohio had a lead of between 15 and 20 points.

The Thomas More gymnasium isn't very large but the stands were nearly full with many watching from other parts of the facility.

Kentucky jumped out on top with a commanding double digit lead in the first five minutes and were scoring at a remarkable pace. The momentum completely shifted when the two teams changed their fives at that time. Ohio was ahead by, I believe, seven when the starting five was reinserted with five minutes left in the half. They managed to tie the score at halftime.

The second and third fives played the first ten minutes of the second half and Kentucky fell decidedly behind. The starters were then reinserted but were, by then, out of sync with the game and didn't make up any ground.

I was anxious to see Rebecca Gray play since I had never seen her play before. I expected a strong, physical player and was surprised to instead see a young lady play with much court savy and grace. She was a pleasure to watch as she glided up and down the court and quarterbacked the Kentucky starters. She was, I'm sure, the leading scorer for her team. Very impressive.

I was also impressed with the play of Whitney Ballinger of Carroll County and can underatand why she is going to Western Kentucky.

I knew what to expect from Laura Terry of Rose Hill and was not disappointed.

All in all, the Kentucky had some fine players but the three mentioned above clearly stood out and appear to be excellent college prospects. I just wish Gray were going somewhere else since I am sure no fan of North Carolina. However, I certainly wish for her personal success.

Ohio had a girl from Cincinnati Taft by the name of Byrd. She was a real force around the basket and was probably the high scorer for the game. The program says that she is undecided as to college. She will be a good pickup for someone.

I personally was disappointed w/Terry. I guess I expected more out of her than what she did. Gray did what she was suppose, control the ball and score. Ballinger is a player as she entered the dunk contest last night but was unable to throw one down cleanly during the competition but did throw 2 down during warm-ups, very impressive.

Byrd is going to Louisville.

I was very proud of Whitney Ballinger, all the girls that we brought from CC thought she was one of the most outstanding players on the floor.

It was a great event to watch and see all of the names we hear so much about actually play together!

Saw on Scholastic Sports Report today that they were talking to Gray and apparently she broke her nose during the game and is to have surgery this week. Did she play through it?

Indeed, Ballinger was one of the top players in the game. You can be proud of her.

I believe she broke her nose during the East-West All Star game in Bowling Green during the sweet sixteen.

Has Gray played in two all star games already? Isn't that the limit for NCAA rules? Does this mean she is not eligible for KY/Indiana all star game?

Does she get an exemption because she's Miss Basketball?

Correct and the nose was fixed 2 weeks ago.

Good question DaChamp, I have never heard of that rule but that would be a shame if she were not allowed to play in the KY/IN game. If she can't, what a dumb rule especially since she has committed already.

You are wrong about the second half Scotter the 3rd five started the 2nd half and ended up at 53 to 53 with 15 minutes to go. the next 5 minutes is where the Ohio team made there move. I agree with 3pt shooter I was not overly impressed with Terry. Not because she is not a very good player but because she doesn't involve her team with her play. When she gets the ball her first thought is how can I attempt to score. Being from Rose Hill this was expected of her and Queen but in the all star game there were no weak players she had to compensate for. The other 4 made good passes to open players Terry not one. Don't get me wrong she was not the only one to do this. On the other 2 teams this was the rule and not the exception. That and the lack of good defense was the only negative I saw.

One complaint/suggestion on the Allstar game. ..I really wish that they had had the jersey # in the program. It was hard to remember who was who, especially on the boys side which I am less familiar with.

I think KY 1st five had the ability to beat the Ohio first five but the second and third did not play enought defense to keep Ohio from running up the score. They came back in at the end of the 1st half and got the score close, but ultimately it was not ecough. Ohio had some really good players.

The rule is you can play in 2 before school lets out..KY/IN is in the summer so she is still eligible to play in it.

The rule is 2 all-star games while school is still in session, KY-IND will be after school is out.
