April 10, 200719 yr Mitch is a joke ...... If you play D-II teams you can win 8 .... Girls team was good .... Baseball team is doing better but ...... Brooks must go ...We will see if Billy step up to SEC ???
April 10, 200719 yr We def. need to shift all of the blame on Mitch, we fans had nothing to do with it. We in our quest for undefeated seasons, national title or bust seasons and domination have run off a great coach in Tubby Smith, and made Billy D. apprehensive about coming here. We need to get over ourselves people, and as far as Mitch's job status look at the whole body of work, improved football, baseball, women's basketball just for starters, let's give the guy a little credit please. This is a basketball school . All the other sports are just a bonus.
April 10, 200719 yr This is a basketball school . All the other sports are just a bonus. Mitch is NOT the basketball AD, ... he is the AD for the entire athletic department and should be judged on his performance across the board, not just on one hire. I think he has done a fine job in NOT treating the other sports like they were just a 'bonus' and didn't really matter. Maybe that is part of the reason why we are seeing more success in football, baseball, womens basketball, etc than we have seen in a while (or in some cases ever).
April 11, 200719 yr He failed. THe program endured over a week of negative publicity. Failed to get "the guy" in Billy Donovan. He was publicly rejected by Barnes without even negotiation. Had to hire a search firm when everyone with any college basketball sense could name the five or six most eligible coaches. At the end he pick the least experianced with the shortest career who comes in with scandalous baggage. From my perspective, this hire would have been akin to Louisville having taken Larry Eustachy had they not secured Pitino. At the time Eustachy was red hot in the way he took Iowa St from bad to great but overtime we really got to see that he wasn't anything exceptional, and got in a great deal of trouble. The spirit at UK is really high right now, but there is very little substance to maintain this honeymoon. Barnhart picked the shiny convertable with the the four cylinder engine that looks real good right now. Watch it break down and the lovefest will no longer remain to cloud the reality.

He should, but he won't and everyone who knows UK basketball knows it...
April 11, 200719 yr I think bringing in a Top 10 coach is doing a great job. He may turn out to be a bust, but, if thats the case, it won't be Mitchs fault...If the so called experts feel he's a Top 10 coach, Mitch wouldn't be the only one fooled...
