Many mind boggling little things... 1) We hold the ball in the OF, allow a base--little league 2) Team can NOT for the life of them consistently bunt 3) Well, when we do bunt, we get JACKED up off of 2nd base 4) Griffey is hitting well this year, however when will he leg out or run hard on ground ball to right field? Will he get a double if hit off wall, JUNIOR leads MLB in most "long singles" category 5) Bullpen is terrible but now starting pitching is becoming BP for opposing teams. 6) Narron can't decide on a lineup 7) Narron can't argue 8) Narron has no fire in belly. 9) Reds free swing on counts they shouldn't be swinging. Reds must get 3 out of 4 vs. Nats. A split is disappointment...lose the series and they lose the fans for the year. Of course a 4 game sweep would be a start, but no matter how bad Nats are...we just ain't much better. Would like to see a good brawl...maybe what they need...Narron might run to club house though... :thumb: You said it all in your post. I don't see this team turning things around under the direction of J. Narron.

With the pitching and the holes in their bats meaning with the same roster, do you see them turning this thing around with any other manager? I don't. As I said in the preseason thread, there are a lot of question marks on this team. Bullpen was never really addressed. Starting pitching was never really addressed. Lack of long stretches where the offense strikes out was never really addressed. Some key players played above their proverbial back of their baseball card last year and not continuing on with that this year. Lack of clutch hitters was never really addressed except to hire a new batting coach. Narron was left with a roster that in the owner's own words "overachieved" last summer.

You put Sweet Lou on this team and the press conferences might be more entertaining but do you really think there is any marked difference? Maybe 1-3 victories but how big of a difference do you expect with a new manager. Till they address the bullpen. Till they address the K's across the board. Till they get players that are clutch hitters. It is not going to change with just a manager.

I would not disagree either that Narron is not the guy. I think Lance McAlister made a great point that out of the last 3 or 4 of the Reds' managers will never manager again in the ML's. Miley, never again. Narron, his last chance. Boone, never again. The roster matches Narron's ability to manage perfectly.

I agree with you that the Reds will not turn things around anytime soon. As I stated before, I don't have the answer's but it is apparent that Narron has no answer either and IMO it is time for him to move on. It is worth a shot to give someone else a chance to prove their worth and then we will see whether it is a roster full of guys that are average ball players or the result of a manager that failed at the task at hand.

We got him at his locker before batting practice, and he told his tales of vomiting and diarrhea (although, he didn't quite use those medical terms), thanks to the gastroenteritis. "That whole day (Friday) with my stomach, it felt like my food wasn’t going down right or something," he said. "I went in and talked to Steve (Baumann, the assistant trainer) and got a little pill for my stomach. About 12:00 that night, I was laying in bed, and it hit me hard. It wasn't necessarily the throwing up, but I had such a bad headache and my body was hurting so bad. I couldn't sit still. It was uncomfortable." So, he and Johnny Narron went to the hospital. “About three hours after I got there, they finally gave me the stuff to calm me down. I was in the bed puking, and they knew my background and they didn't want to give me stuff and get me reminiscing. I was like, "I'll be fine. Give it to me. Please.'" It's also Hamilton's birthday today, but he said he didn't think he'd be eating any birthday cake.
