8th Region Outlook next season

Featured Replies

What are some thoughts on the 8th region next season?

What team's will impress and what new name's will we hear?

I don't look for the top 6 to change much. Oldham, SK, Shelby, Gallatin, Anderson and SO. Don't know what order I'ld put them in but they all should be in the hunt. Penny would be my early pick for best player as a junior.

Alot of very good seniors are leaving the 8th this year. Next year will have a different look.

I agree that the top teams should be the same as they were this year, just a lot of different players will be leading the way. Right now I'm picking Oldham to repeat.

I look for SK to be either pre-season #1 or 2. SK has 1 starter back in Layne, but had a great JV team that only lost 1 game and won the 9th region JV tourny. To compliment Layne will be Maegley, Slavey, Brown, Barnes, and Ponzer. I actually think this SK team could be better than last year's team.

SK returns some solid players but to say they will be better at this point is a stretch in my eyes.

Could not agree more. Hester was POY, Hurd was runner up, and Elbert was one spot from making All Region team.

No way Simon Kenton is better next year than this, but they will still be right up in the top 3 of the region.

IMO: SK has a chance to be better next year than this year.

I do think that they will be a better shooting team next year.

They definately won't have more talent, but a better team, who knows maybe. Personally I don't think next year's team would even be able to keep it close with this year's squad.

Better team is possible, but no way they will have better talent. Hester, Hurd and Elbert were 3 of the top ten in the region, but talent doesn't always mean a better team.

I would go with Anderson and Oldham as the top 2. After that Simon Kenton, Gallatin, and Shelby would be in the mix. Don't know how much South Oldham lost.

Gallatin had a large senior class but Jones will probably still have a strong showing..

Didn't Anderson start all underclassmen?

Should be another strong year for the cats. Lost alot but return 5 kids that started at one time or another. Next years starting lineup might even be older than this years (more jrs. and srs.).

Gallatin will also play a brutal schedule next season. Road games at Scott Co. (season opener), Anderson Co., Oldham Co., Shelby Co., North Oldham, and Ryle. Home games againt Simon Kenton amd South Oldham. And a Christmas tournament at Lloyd which includes Holmes.
