8th Region Outlook next season

Featured Replies

This has become a pretty weak region with Scott Co. and Bullit East leaving it. Also Shelby isnt as good as it has been in the past, nor is Oldham Co.

Never knew East was a power. They had a good run with Alcorn and Troutman a few years back, but they are not to be mentioned with Scott, Shelby, and Oldham.

Well they arent really, but it is kindof weird that they took the 2 previous regional champs out of the region. It is a much weaker region right now than it used to be though.

I thought Shelby won it last year 06.

Bullitt East won the 8th in 2005, Shelby in 2006.

I meant at the time they moved Scott Co and Bullit East out of the region, not the past 2 seasons.

Owen is out as far as the All "A" Classic goes for all sports. See the story here.

I know they were very helpful, in the initial stages of getting the All "A" going but enrollment increases.

As the article stated, a cap of 425 students in the top three grades.

SK will surprise next year. True they lost a lot but the JV has good chemistry. I personally think there will be a lot of teams that could win this region.

Gallatin will also play a brutal schedule next season. Road games at Scott Co. (season opener), Anderson Co., Oldham Co., Shelby Co., North Oldham, and Ryle. Home games againt Simon Kenton amd South Oldham. And a Christmas tournament at Lloyd which includes Holmes.

That is crazy, when did Jones make up that schedule

I look for SK to be either pre-season #1 or 2. SK has 1 starter back in Layne, but had a great JV team that only lost 1 game and won the 9th region JV tourny. To compliment Layne will be Maegley, Slavey, Brown, Barnes, and Ponzer. I actually think this SK team could be better than last year's team.

Weren't most of SK's JV starters juniors?

The enitre schedule is up at http://www.gallatincountywildcats.com. Do not have all of the participants for the Christmas tourney, but the rest of the schedule is up. go to the Boys Basketball page.
